The NBA is giving us a six-game slate on Thursday, March 9, and here you can take a look at the best Rockets vs. Pacers betting pick and odds.

Houston is hoping to get the second straight road win when they visit Indiana at Bankers Life Fieldhouse. The Pacers are 9-point favorites on MyBookie Sportsbook, while the total is set at 236 points. These inter-conference rivals will meet for the second time this season; the Pacers won 99-91 in Houston.

Rockets couldn’t do much against the Nets

The Houston Rockets (15-50, 26-38-1 ATS) had a chance to get the third consecutive win for the first time this season after defeating the San Antonio Spurs in both games of a back-to-back set. However, the Brooklyn Nets proved to be too strong for the Rockets, as Jacque Vaughn’s team celebrated a comfortable 118-96 victory over Houston. The Rockets made only seven three-pointers opposite Brooklyn’s 15, while the hosts committed 19 turnovers and forced 12 on the other end.

Jalen Green led the Rockets with 25 points. Alperen Sengun posted a double-double of 16 points and team-high 12 rebounds, Jabari Smith Jr. had 15 points and eight boards, Jae’Sean Tate scored 11 points with four rebounds, while Kevin Porter Jr. finished with an 8/8/7 line.

G Kevin Porter Jr. is dealing with a thigh contusion, and he is not expected to face off against the Pacers on Thursday.

Pacers were edged by the 76ers in Indianapolis

The Indiana Pacers (29-37, 36-30-0 ATS) returned home from a four-game road trip with three wins in the pocket but failed to record the fourth victory in five games. The Philadelphia 76ers secured a tight 147-143 win in Indianapolis, and despite scoring a season-high 143, the Pacers allowed a season-high 147 points, which is unorthodox given no overtime was played. Indiana was excellent from the floor (58.9%), but the visitors made a difference from the foul line as they made 35 free throws opposite Indiana’s 22.

Tyrese Haliburton led the Pacers with a double-double of 40 points (12-19 FG, 5-10 3PT, 11-12 FT) and team-high 16 assists. Jordan Nwora scored 16, Buddy Hield had 15 points and team-high eight rebounds, Jalen Smith and Bennedict Mathurin combined for 27 points, while T.J. McConnell added 12 points, five boards, four dimes, and game-high three steals.

SG Aaron Nesmith (hip) is questionable to meet the Rockets on Thursday.

Trends:

Houston:

  • 9-23 ATS in the last 32 games overall
  • 5-17 ATS in the last 22 road games
  • 1-5 ATS in the last six games following a straight-up loss of more than ten points
  • 0-4 ATS in the last four games playing on one day of rest

Indiana:

  • 6-1 ATS in the last seven games overall
  • 9-4 ATS in the last 13 home games vs. a team with a losing road record
  • 5-1 ATS in the last six games after scoring more than 125 points in their previous game

Houston Rockets vs. Indiana Pacers Pick

The Pacers are chasing a playoff-play-in place and they cannot afford to lose against the tanking Rockets. Indiana won four of the previous seven games and proved that they belong to the playoffs with wins over Dallas and Chicago, while they seriously troubled the Sixers. I don’t think the hosts will have problems with Houston on Thursday. Indiana has a more efficient offense; the Pacers score 115.5 points per game opposite Houston’s 110.0 points per contest, which is the second-worst offense in the NBA. The visitors are without a chance as they will be playing without Porter Jr.

Pick: Take the Pacers at -8.5 (-125)

The Total

These teams are not even among the top 25 when it comes to defense. Indiana is allowing 117.9 points per game, while Houston concedes 118.2 ppg. They are also not in the top 20 in defensive rating, and I certainly don’t expect to see another low-scoring affair as was the case in the previous H2H in Houston. Still, this total is a bit high, and I would like to exploit it. Under is 11-3 in the last 14 H2H meetings; Under is 5-1 in the previous six H2H duels in Indiana, while Under is 8-1 in the Pacers’ last nine home games vs. a team with a losing road record.

Pick: Go Under 238.5 points (-130)
