A nine-game slate in the NBA scheduled for Wednesday, February 8, will conclude with this conference clash in Portland, so make sure you read the best Warriors vs. Trail Blazers betting pick and odds.

Golden State is searching for the third straight win, while Portland is hoping to avoid the third defeat in a row when they meet at Moda Center. The Blazers are -3.5 favorites on BetOnline Sportsbook, while the total is set at 234 points. These conference rivals will meet for the second time this season; the Warriors won 118-112 in San Francisco.

Warriors dismantled the Thunder at home

The Golden State Warriors (28-26, 25-28-1 ATS) successfully swept their two-game home stand with wins over the Dallas Mavericks and Oklahoma City Thunder. The Warriors had some troubles against Luka Doncic-less Mavs, but they destroyed the Thunder 141-114, mostly thanks to an excellent third quarter in which the hosts scored 44 and allowed 26 points. Golden State shot 57.7% from the field and made even 26 triples opposite Oklahoma City’s 11, while they also dominated the boards (45-36) and assists (43-21).

Klay Thompson erupted for 42 points (15-22 FG, 12-16 3PT), becoming the second player in NBA history with 10+ three-pointers in a game behind his teammate Stephen Curry. Jordan Poole posted a double-double of 21 points and game-high 12 assists with four rebounds, Andrew Wiggins had 18 points and four dishes, while Donte DiVincenzo chipped in a 14/4/7 line.

PG Stephen Curry (leg) is out indefinitely, while SF Andre Iguodala (hip) is questionable to face Portland on Wednesday.

Trail Blazers couldn’t cope with the Bucks at home

The Portland Trail Blazers (26-28, 28-26-0 ATS) were on a three-game winning streak but suffered a couple of defeats to the Chicago Bulls and Milwaukee Bucks. The Blazers returned home from a three-game road trip with a pair of wins in the pocket but opened a five-game homestay with a 127-108 loss against the Bucks. While Milwaukee was very good from the floor (54.0%), Portland shot only 40.7% and hit nine triples opposite the Bucks’ 16. Also, the visitors destroyed the Blazers in rebounds (55-28); Portland had just one offensive board!

Damian Lillard led the Blazers with 28 points, team-high five assists, and four rebounds. Anfernee Simons had 21 points and five dimes, Josh Hart contributed 14 points and eight boards, while Jerami Grant finished with 13 points and two blocks.

C Jusuf Nurkic (calf) and PF Justise Winslow (ankle) are out indefinitely. SF Keon Johnson (ankle) is questionable to play on Wednesday against the Warriors.

Trends:

Golden State:

  • 2-5 ATS in the last seven games after scoring more than 125 points in their previous game
  • 2-5 ATS in the last seven games playing on one day of rest
  • 1-5-1 ATS in the last seven games following a straight-up win of more than ten points

Portland:

  • 7-3 ATS in the last ten games following a straight-up loss of more than ten points

Golden State Warriors vs. Portland Trail Blazers Pick

Golden State has the second-best offense in the NBA that averages 118.4 points per game, and although it worked against the Thunder, I think the absence of Stephen Curry will be felt in this one. Portland is scoring 114.5 ppg but has a stronger defense than the Warriors. The Blazers are allowing 114.3 ppg opposite Golden State’s 118.2 ppg – the fifth-worst defense in the league. Damien Lillard always likes to play against the Warriors and I expect him to bring his A-game on Wednesday and lead his team to victory.

Pick: Take the Trail Blazers at -2.5 (-125)

The Total

Even though I don’t expect the Warriors to score 140+ again, Klay Thompson, Jordan Poole, and co. have what it takes to pour 115+ against Portland here. On the other hand, I expect to see an improved offensive display from Portland after a weak one against Milwaukee, so a high-scoring affair is on the cards. Over is 16-5-1 in the last 22 H2H meetings in Portland; Over is 5-1 in the Warriors’ previous six overall, while Over is 35-14-3 in Golden State’s last 52 road games.

Pick: Go Over 232.5 points (-125)
