The college football betting action continues Thursday, November 4, with the Sun Belt Conference showdown at Cajun Field in Lafayette, so we bring you the best Georgia State vs. Louisiana-Lafayette betting pick and odds.

The Ragin’ Cajuns search for their sixth consecutive victory over the Panthers, opening as 12-point home favorites on MyBookie Sportsbook. The totals sit at 54.5 points, and the under is 3-2 in the previous five encounters between Georgia State and Louisiana-Lafayette.

The Panthers eye their fourth straight victory

The Georgia State Panthers (4-4; 5-3 ATS) extended their winning streak to three games last Saturday, outlasting the Georgia Southern Eagles 21-14 as 6-point road favorites. They took good care of the ball while picking off Justin Tomlin twice, and senior RB Jamyest Williams scored the winning TD with 26 seconds left on the clock in the fourth quarter.

Williams led the way for the Panthers with 12 carries for 97 yards and a TD. Georgia State racked up 237 rushing yards on 40 attempts, while junior QB Darren Grainger completed 16 of his 27 pass attempts for 141 yards.

The Panthers lean on their ground game, averaging 224.0 rushing yards per game (tied-14th in the country) and 5.1 yards per carry (tied-27th). Jamyest Williams and Tucker Gregg have already combined for 965 rushing yards and nine scores. The Panthers score 23.9 points per contest (tied-96th) and surrender 30.1 in a return (95th).

The Ragin’ Cajuns roll on a seven-game winning streak

The Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns improved to 7-1 SU and 3-5 ATS on the season following a 45-0 blanking of the Texas State Bobcats in Week 9. They easily covered a 21-point spread at home and extended their winning streak to seven games, as the Ragin’ Cajuns are undefeated since the season opener and a 38-18 loss at Texas.

Louisiana-Lafayette held the Bobcats to only 205 total yards. The Ragin’ Cajuns completely dominated their rivals and forced three turnovers. Senio Levi Lewis led the way for their offense, tossing for 228 yards and three touchdowns, while sophomore RB Chris Smith had nine totes for 70 yards and a TD.

The Ragin’ Cajuns score 32.0 points per game (42nd in the nation) and allow 19.3 in a return (tied-19th). They average 208.1 rushing yards per game (23rd) and 5.3 per carry (tied-19th), while Levi Lewis has tossed for 1,655 yards, 11 touchdowns, and three interceptions so far this season.

Trends:

Georgia State:

  • 4-10-1 ATS in the last 15 outings as double-digit underdogs

Louisiana-Lafayette:

  • 5-2 ATS in the last seven games played on Thursday

Georgia State vs. Louisiana-Lafayette Pick

The Panthers have improved defensively a lot over the last few weeks, which is the main reason why they’ve won three consecutive games. Georgia State’s D will be properly tested in this matchup, and the Ragin’ Cajuns look like a much better team than any of the Panthers’ last three opponents.

Hereof, I’m backing the hosts to win and cover. The Ragin’ Cajuns own a well-rounded offense with one of the best ground games in the country, and I hope their defense will find a way to slow down the Panthers’ rushing.

Pick: Take Louisiana-Lafayette -12.0 at -110

The Total:

The over is 6-1 in Georgia State’s last seven outings as a double-digit underdog. If they continue to run efficiently, the Panthers should be able to score a few touchdowns, hit the 20-point mark, and help this game fly in the over. Also, the over is 7-3 in their previous ten contests overall.

On the other hand, the Ragin’ Cajuns’ last five games went in the under. Their defense has been terrific for most of the season, but the Cajuns still surrender 152.9 rushing yards per game (69th in the country).

Pick: Go over 54.5 points at -110
