The 2021-22 CBB season continues Wednesday, February 9, so we are taking a closer look at the Big East Conference showdown from Wintrust Arena in Chicago, Illinois, to get you the best Georgetown vs. DePaul betting pick and odds.

The Hoyas face off against the Blue Demons for the first time this season. Each team has emerged victorious four times over their previous eight encounters. According to Bookmaker Sportsbook, the Blue Demons are 8-point favorites with a total of 146.5 points for this one.

Georgetown is in shambles

The Georgetown Hoyas haven’t won a single game in nearly two months. Since December 15 and an 85-73 home win to Howard, the Hoyas have gone 0-11 straight up and 3-7-1 ATS. They fell to 6-15 SU and 8-12-1 ATS on the season with a 71-52 defeat to the No. 15 Providence Friars this past Sunday.

The Hoyas are 0-10 in the conference play. They sit bottom of the Big East standings, a game and a half behind DePaul. The Hoyas are No. 212 in the latest NCAA NET Rankings and No. 207 in the KenPom rankings.

Georgetown scores 103.9 points per 100 possessions (150th in the nation) on 41.1% shooting from the field (312th) and 36.1% from beyond the arc (63rd). Freshman guard Aminu Mohammed leads the way for Georgetown, averaging 13.6 points and 7.7 rebounds per contest, while senior guard Donald Carey tallies 13.6 points, 4.7 boards, and 3.2 assists a night.

DePaul has just snapped its four-game skid

The DePaul Blue Demons (11-10; 13-8 ATS) are coming off a 69-65 victory at the Xavier Musketeers this past Saturday. They pulled off a huge upset, playing as 13.5-point road underdogs, to put an end to a four-game losing streak.

The Blue Demons have struggled mightily over the last few weeks. They’ve won only two of their previous 11 games overall. DePaul is No. 103 in both the NCAA NET Rankings and KenPom rankings.

Senior guard Javon Freeman-Liberty leads the charge for DePaul with 21.1 points per game, but he’s currently sidelined due to a groin injury. Sophomore forward David Jones tallies 14.2 points and 7.3 rebounds per game, while senior F Brandon Johnson adds 10.7 points and 7.1 boards a night. The Blue Demons score 105.8 points per 100 possessions (113th in the nation) and allow 98.9 in a return (97th).

Trends:

Georgetown:

  • 3-7-1 ATS in the last 11 games overall
  • 6-11 ATS in the last 17 games on the road

DePaul:

  • 4-2 ATS in the last six games overall
  • 4-1 ATS in the last five games played on Wednesday

Georgetown vs. DePaul Pick

The Hoyas have been a complete disaster since mid-December. On the other side, the Blue Demons have struggled mightily as well, but they’ve played without their best player as of late. Despite Javon Freeman-Liberty’s injury, DePaul should have enough firepower to roll over Georgetown.

The Blue Demons must be fired up following that stunning victory at Xavier. Playing on the home court should help in this matchup, so give me the Blue Demons and points.

Pick: Take DePaul -8.0 at -110

The Total:

Georgetown plays at a very fast pace, recording 71.0 possessions per 40 minutes (40th in the nation). The Hojas rank 255th in defensive efficiency (106.7 points allowed per 100 possessions), so we should see a high-scoring affair when they take on the Blue Demons.

DePaul won’t mind speeding up things against Georgetown. The Blue Demons average 69.1 possessions per 40 minutes (98th). The total has gone under in their last five outings at any location, and that could easily change when the Hoyas come to town.

Pick: Go over 146.5 points at -110
