The NCAAF is giving us the Mountain West Championship Game on Saturday, December 3, and that’s why you can’t afford to miss out on the best Bulldogs vs. Broncos betting pick and odds.

Fresno State and Boise State will cross swords in the battle for the Mountain West Conference title when they meet at Albertsons Stadium. The Broncos are 3-point favorites on BetDSI Sportsbook, while the total is set at 54 points. These Mountain West rivals faced once this season, and the Broncos defeated the Bulldogs 40-20 at home.

Bulldogs closed the regular season with the 7th straight win

The Fresno State Bulldogs (8-4-0, 5-7-0 ATS) perhaps entered this year quite slowly with four losses in the opening five games, but they did conclude it in style. The Bulldogs recorded seven consecutive victories, including the most recent one over the Wyoming Cowboys at home. It was Fresno State’s best defensive display of the season as they kept the Cowboys off the scoreboard, scoring 30 points in return. The Bulldogs were better in total yards (297-191) and forced two turnovers while committing zero on the other end.

Jake Haener completed 21 of 32 passes for 183 yards and a touchdown. Jordan Mims registered three rushing touchdowns as he finished with 52 yards on 16 carries. Nikko Remigio caught that lone TD pass for Haener, while Zane Pope had a game-high 83 yards on six receptions. On defense, Carlton Johnson led the team with seven tackles.

Broncos didn’t have problems with Utah State at home

The Boise State Broncos (9-3-0, 6-5-1 ATS) ended the regular season with three wins in a row and with a perfect 8-0 conference record. They are the only team in the Mountain West with a perfect conference record. The Broncos beat the Utah State Aggies 42-23 in the final regular season game at home thanks to a strong performance in the second quarter when the hosts scored 21 points. The Aggies actually had more total yards and first downs, but the hosts forced a pair of turnovers, one of which (interception) Seyi Oladipo converted into a touchdown late in the game.

Taylen Green completed 14 of 23 passes for 220 yards and career-high four touchdowns. He also chipped in a game-high 91 rushing yards on six attempts and had a 91-yard TD on a play action. Eric McAlister got two receiving touchdowns, while Scott Matlock and Latrell Caples each added a TD. Caples posted a team-high 78 yards on four receptions. Defensively, DJ Schramm was a monster with a game-high 15 tackles.

WR Stefan Cobbs and TE Riley Smith are questionable to feature on Saturday against Fresno State for undisclosed reasons.

Trends:

Fresno State:

  • 2-5 ATS in the last seven games vs. a team with a winning record
  • 2-5 ATS in the last seven games after allowing less than 20 points in their previous game

Boise State:

  • 6-1-1 ATS in the last eight conference games
  • 4-1 ATS in the last five home games

Fresno State Bulldogs vs. Boise State Broncos Pick

Even though the Broncos dismantled the Bulldogs in their H2H this year and scored 40 points, I am backing a better defense to prevail here. And that’s the Broncos’ D, which is among the top 10 in the country with 17.8 points per game allowed to the rivals. Fresno State has an excellent pass offense that averages 277.0 yards per contest, but they will find it hard to be efficient against the third-best pass defense in college football that allows just 158.8 yards per game.

Pick: Take the Broncos at -2.5 (-130)

The Total

I don’t think the Bulldogs will have a good time going through the air in this one, so they will likely have to turn to their run offense. The same can be said about the Broncos, who actually prefer running over passing and are in the top 40 with 190.4 rushing yards per game. On the other hand, Fresno State doesn’t defend running backs very well, allowing 158.8 ypg, so I expect to see a lot of running from each team. Under is 6-1 in the last seven H2H meetings, while Under is 4-1 in the previous H2H duels in Boise State.

Pick: Go Under 54.5 points (-120)
