MLB Betting Previews- Texas Rangers vs. Oakland Athletics Odds provided by vietbet:
The Texas Rangers and the Oakland Athletics kick-off a three-game weekend series tonight at Oakland Coliseum in a matchup of two AL West rivals. The first pitch is scheduled for 10:05 p.m. (ET) and the game will be available on MLB TV.
Texas is 5-2 in its last seven games but coming off a 4-3 loss to Seattle this past Wednesday as a 214 home favorite. The Rangers are now 66-52 overall and two games in front of Los Angeles in the division. They are 39-23 at home this season and 27-29 on the road.
Wednesday’s loss was the first time that Texas failed to score four or more runs in its last nine games. It is ranked second in the AL in hitting with a .277 team batting average and third in scoring with 599 runs. Their lineup boasts three sluggers with 70 or more runs batted in led by Michael Young’s 77.
C.J. Wilson is slated to be on the mound tonight for Texas. The left-hander is 10-5 this season with an ERA of 3.35. Last Saturday against Cleveland, he gave up two earned runs on five hits in 6.2 innings, but failed to get the decision. Wilson is 3-5 with a 4.50 ERA against the A’s.
Oakland is relegated to playing the role of spoiler in this series as it is 12.5 games back in the division. It comes into this series fresh off a 10-3 victory over Toronto as a 133 road underdog, which was its fourth win in the last five games. The A’s are 53-64 overall; 22-40 on the road, but a respectable 31-24 at home.
The 10 runs scored in its last game has certainly not been the norm for Oakland. It is ranked 11th in the AL in both hitting and scoring with a .247 team batting average and 460 runs scored. The A’s pitching has made them competitive all season long with a team ERA of 3.49.
Oakland will go with Brandon McCarthy as its starter tonight. He comes into this game in great form with three straight victories in which he allowed a total of four earned runs in his last 22 innings. McCarthy is 5-5 overall with a 3.31 ERA in 16 starts. He is 1-2 against Texas with a 3.54 ERA.
Head-to-head this season, the Rangers have a slight 6-4 edge overall. They are 5-1 at home, but just 1-3 at Oakland Coliseum. The total has gone ‘over’ in seven of the 10 games.
Stick with McCarthy and the A’s in this one as his hot streak holds up for at least one more game.
