An 18-game winner and All Star a season ago, Lynn has picked up where he left off, posting a 9-1 record with a 3.56 ERA in his first 14 starts of 2013. The right hander has won four straight games since his only loss this season, May 7th against the Cubs at Wrigley. It's important to note, however, that Lynn was his usual effective self in his only loss, allowing two runs in seven innings in the Cards' 2-1 loss. The former first round draft pick has tossed quality starts in five of six home starts, boasting a 5-0 record and a 2.54 ERA at Busch Stadium.
Sharing the pitching mound with Lynn will be Scott Feldman, the longtime Texas Ranger who has found success in the National League with the Cubs. After a rocky 0-3 start, Feldman has thrown quality starts in eight of his last 10 outings, posting a 6-2 record and a 2.74 ERA. His recent success and unfamiliarity to Cardinals hitters set the stage for an effective outing from the right hander.
Billed as a pitcher's duel, this matchup should live up to the hype. The Cardinals offense, which features four batters with an average over .300, will get through to Feldman and provide enough support for Lynn to secure his 10th win.
