The Dodgers were just two wins away from setting the longest road winning streak in MLB history but it came to an end at 15 on Tuesday night with a 5-1 loss as 150 road favorites. This was after they beat the Cardinals 3-2 as 142 road underdogs on Monday in the first of this four-game National League showdown. Los Angeles is now a NL-best 31-25 on the road this season as part of an overall record of 62-50 that has it five games ahead of Arizona in the NL West. The total has now stayed UNDER in its last five games on the road.
Despite the 8-2 record in their last 10 games, the Dodgers’ bats have remained fairly quiet during this run. They have only scored more than three runs in three of those 10 games. Fortunately their pitching has remained rock solid and it is now ranked fourth in the NL with a team ERA of 3.43. Los Angeles will send Ricky Nolasco to the mound as its starter for Game 3. The right-hander is 7-9 on the year with a 3.78 ERA. He is 2-4 against St. Louis with a 4.18 ERA.
The Cardinals’ win on Tuesday night was just their fourth in their last 10 games but they are 3-2 in their last five. With the road winning streak snapped, the Dodgers are bound to lose some momentum heading into this game. St. Louis continues to do a great job at getting runners across the plate and that will be the case again tonight as it takes the 2-1 edge in this series with the win.
