Two of the best teams in the American League will meet in Major League Baseball betting action when the Texas Rangers face the Boston Red Sox Monday at 7:10 ET at historic Fenway Park. The world champion Red Sox have started the season slow at just 2-4 SU as they could be a little hung over following a short off-season.

Texas avoided a sweep to the Tampa Bay Rays by defeating them 3-0 on Sunday behind seven shutout innings from pitcher Yu Darvish. Monday’s game will be the Rangers fourth of six straight on the road before heading home to face the Houston Astros this weekend. Shortstop Elvis Andrus provided what proved to be the game-winning two-run homer in the eighth inning on Sunday to give his team a 2-0 lead they would never submit. Andrus has started the season strong with a .333 batting average and has been one of the few offensive bright spots for the Rangers thus far. Taking the hill for Texas on Monday will be right hander Tanner Scheppers who was lit up in his first start. He lasted just four innings as the Philadelphia Phillies rocked him for seven runs in a wild 14-10 shootout in Arlington. The Rangers will need a much better effort from Scheppers in this game if they want to hang with the high powered Red Sox on the scoreboard. Texas is struggling to keep opponents off the board so far giving up 5.02 runs per game and it may not get much better in this trip to Boston.

Boston is stuck in a three game losing streak as it was swept by the Milwaukee Brewers who scored a 4-0 win at Fenway Park on Sunday. The Red Sox were outscored in the series 17-8 by the Brewers and have been held scoreless in their last 13 innings of play. Powerful first baseman Mike Napoli has gotten off to a good start to the season drilling two homeruns in the opening week. Napoli is batting .261 with seven runs batted in and three runs scored. Boston’s ace pitcher John Lackey will get the ball for a chance to get his team back on track. Lackey pitched 6.0 innings giving up just two runs on three hits while recording six strikeouts in a 6-2 win over the Baltimore Orioles last week. Things will have to start happening for the Red Sox offensively and this should be a favorable pitching match-up for them to be able to take advantage. Boston is off to a 0-3 SU start on its home field and will be trying to give its hometown fans a win to cheer about in this game.

The Red Sox are way too talented offensively to be struggling this much and they are due to break out of this scoreless slump. We expect to see the green monster get a lot of action in this game as Boston will have its way with Scheppers on Monday. As heavy ‘favorites’ with Lackey on the mound look for the Red Sox to get their first home victory of the season in this one.
