A National League Central match-up will be featured in Major League Baseball betting action when the St. Louis Cardinals travel to face the Cincinnati Reds Sunday night at 8:00 ET at the Great American Ball Park on ESPN. This Sunday night game will be the rubber match of the series as these teams have split the first two contests.

The Cardinals got a 6-3 win in Saturday’s game as they methodically dismantled the Reds on the road. Catcher Yadier Molina had a big night going 2-for-5 at the plate as he hit his fifth homerun of the season. Left fielder Matt Holliday also had a nice game going 3-for-4 knocking in a run and scoring another in the win. Pitcher Jaime Garcia got his first win of the year going 5.2 innings giving up two runs on six hits as he struck out seven Reds hitters. On Sunday it will be right hander Adam Wainwright getting the ball for St. Louis as he looks to improve on a 7-2 record thus far. Wainwright has worked 73 innings with a 1.85 ERA as the ace of this staff. The Cards are 8-2 in their L/10 games overall as they sit second in the NL Central standings just behind the Milwaukee Brewers by 1.5 games. They will be trying to win their fourth straight series in this game even as the offense continues to struggle scoring just 3.86 runs per game.

The Reds couldn’t get anything going on Saturday night as they fell short at home. Left fielder Ryan Ludwick hit his third homer of the year in the loss. Second baseman Brandon Phillips was 3-for-4 at the dish and knocked in his 16th RBI. Pitcher Tony Cingrani got through 6.0 innings giving up four runs on seven hits as he fell to a 2-4 record. Right hander Mike Leake will get the ball for Cincy on Sunday as he tries to get to a .500 record in his 10th start. Leake has thrown 65.0 innings this season with a 2.91 ERA. He was pretty exceptional in his last start as he got a no decision, but gave up just one run on seven hits in a 4-3 win over the Washington Nationals. The Reds are just 3-9 in their L/12 games as the ‘underdog’ and they will be in that position again in this contest. Missing first basemen Joey Votto with a quadriceps injury will continue to hurt this lineup as he sits on the 15-day DL.

The Cardinals are heavy ‘favorites’ to win this game for a good reason as their ace takes the hill in Cincy. Wainwright went all nine innings in his last start as he pitched a one-hitter and struck out nine in a 5-0 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks. There’s no reason not to ride with the Cards as they are 8-2 when Wainwright gets the ball this season. We expect to see him have a great night against a weakened Reds lineup and get another win to take this series.
