A National League Central match-up will be featured in Major League Baseball betting action when the Los Angeles Dodgers travel to face the Cincinnati Reds Monday night at 7:00 ET at the Great American Ball Park on ESPN. This will be the first in a four game series between these two NL contenders.

The Dodgers got a bit of a break on Sunday as they were awarded a 6-1 victory as a rain delay cut their game short after six innings with the Colorado Rockies. Powered by a four run sixth inning they were able to get the series win taking two of three in the Mile High City. Left fielder Matt Kemp had himself a great afternoon going 2-for-2 at the plate as he knocked in two runs and scored another. Shortstop Hanley Ramirez knocked out his 10th homerun of the season to help the offensive effort. Pitcher Clayton Kershaw threw 5.0 innings giving up one run on three hits as he struck out nine for his fifth win of the season. Right hander Dan Haren will get the start on Monday as he comes in with a 3.50 ERA in 74.2 innings pitched. He was beaten 4-1 in his last outing giving up four runs on six hits as the Chicago White Sox got the win. The Dodgers are just 2-6 in their L/8 games as an ‘underdog’ as they look to get their second straight road win. Right fielder Yasiel Puig is day-to-day with a right hip flexor injury he suffered on Saturday.

The Reds avoided a sweep against the Philadelphia Phillies on Sunday as they held on for a 6-5 win at home. Right fielder Jay Bruce belted a two-run homer and first baseman Todd Frazier also went deep in the win. Frazier went 3-for-4 at the plate as he had an RBI and two runs scored while Bruce finished with three RBI’s to lead the offense. Pitcher Alfredo Simon had a quality start going 6.0 innings giving up three runs on seven hits. Lefty Tony Cingrani will take the hill for Cincinnati in this one as he tries to get his first win since April 24th. Cingrani pitched well in his last outing giving up three runs on six hits in a 3-2 loss to the San Francisco Giants. The Reds are still without slugger Joey Votto who has a left quadriceps strain and is currently on a rehab assignment in the minors. Cincinnati is 4-2 in its L/6 meetings with Los Angeles and it got the three game sweep last time it hosted the boys in blue.

The Reds are slight ‘favorites’ to get the win on Monday night which should send Dodgers bettors to the betting windows in droves. However, we love the Reds chances to get this win as the Dodgers have struggled on the road lately. There should be plenty of runs put on the board and we’re going to roll with the home team to get a fourth straight victory in this match-up.
