The Los Angeles Angels have placed themselves in a position where they may be causing some panic for the Houston Astros in the American League West. And on Saturday they will have the chance to take the lead, if they can get the same kind of effort southpaw CJ Wilson has shown them the last couple of times he has taken the mound.
More to the point, if Hisashi Iwakuma of the Seattle Mariners continues to do what HE'S been doing this season, it could wind up being child's play for the Halos as these teams get together for the second game of their series, which begins at 10:10 PM ET at Safeco Field. And as usual, we remind Vietbet customers that they can engage in live wagering of the liveliest kind when they hop on board with Live Betting Extra, which enables everyone to challenge the baseball betting odds while the action is in progress.
Te Angels have won ten out of their last 12 games and have pulled to within a half-game of Houston with their 47-39 record. In the space of one week, they chopped 4.5 games off the Astros' lead. Seattle, which is 40-47, is eight games behind in the AL West.
Wilson (7-6, 3.82) has had one more day of rest than Iwakuma, a right-hander who threw just 68 pitches in his last outing. With a 7.17 ERA, it is clear that he has not gotten a lot of hitters out, and he is letting too many of them launch it over the fence. In fact, in 21-1/3 innings of work, he has allowed nine round-trippers.
Seattle Mariners (Iwakuma) -109
Los Angeles Angels (Wilson) -101
Under 7.5 runs -120
Over 7.5 runs +100
Iwakuma's situation has been a rough one, as he permitted twelve earned runs in 16-1/3 innings before landing o the disabled list with a sprain of his lat. Clearly he did not look any better as he came back five days ago, as the Detroit Tigers reached him for five runs, with FOUR homers, in five innings. His first start of the season came against the Angels, and he went six full innings while allowing four runs.
Wilson gave up three runs in six frames against the Texas Rangers last time out, and he was better against the Yankees in his turn prior to that (one run in six innings). He's had two nice outings against Seattle in the 2015 season, and a lot of Vietbet patrons may be influenced by his effort at Safeco on April 7, when he limited the M's to two hits in eight scoreless innings. And he has won four of his last five starts. It's no wonder, when you are getting some support from the guys wielding the lumber.
It could be Iwakuma's grave misfortune that he is facing a Los Angeles (by way of Anaheim) squad that has really dialed up some offense lately. In fact, they are averaging just under eight runs on the current road trip. On Friday, reigning Most Valuable Player Mike Trout hit two homers to key a 7-3 win against the Mariners, and he has been on fire, with five homers and nine RBI's in the last four games. CJ Cron, who also went deep twice on Friday, has eleven runs batted in in his last five games.
