Everybody is crazy about football right now, and with good reason since the NFL season begins on Thursday night. But, you’re doing a disservice to yourself as a handicapper if you ignore the money that can be made betting on baseball in the month of September. Adam Burke was back on the air with another edition of The Bettor’s Box on Thursday with a lot of excellent baseball betting insight and analysis to help you through the final month of the regular season.

Listeners of the show can also hit Adam up on Twitter at his handle, @SkatingTripods, to talk baseball betting, topics for the show, or any other sport at BangTheBook. He’s always willing to discuss baseball, as well as the other sports. Don’t hesitate to ask him for more clarification about sabermetrics or about the observations that he has seen in previous games.

This is an MLB show, but Adam is also the host of three other football-related podcasts here at BangTheBook. Adam is joined on the College Football Podcast by Kyle Hunter, the Gridiron Gambling Report by Cole Ryan, and Football Fridays with Joe D’Amico. The reach of our shows is growing by leaps and bounds and we cannot thank our loyal listeners and readers enough.

On this show, Adam began with a look at some of the important series outcomes from earlier in the week. The biggest was the New York Mets sweep of the Washington Nationals. What happens to both teams going forward now? This series will also have implications into the offseason that will affect one of the two teams in a big way. Also, during this segment, Adam looked at the Cubs/Cardinals series and also the Twins series win over the Royals.

Moving into the Down the Lines segment, line moves and handicapping concepts were discussed with examples from the betting market. Reading lines is essential for any MLB handicapper and especially at this time of the season when there are some very big favorites and some lines that will jump off the page. Included in this look at the lines and their movements were picks for Thursday night and Friday night’s action.

Motivation means everything this time of the year in Major League Baseball. As a continuation of Monday’s look into whether or not teams are sufficiently motivated, the discussion focused on some teams that have quit on the season and one team that will be a good bet throughout the rest of the month. Isolating these teams is important and that’s why Adam took time to cover them on the show.

Finally, what important games are coming up over the weekend? Adam did fail to mention that the Blue Jays/Yankees series is a four-gamer, with David Price against Luis Severino, but that was the only blip on what was an otherwise excellent edition of The Bettor’s Box.
