Here is the MLB Picks for Wednesday, July 2nd, 2014.
Oakland Athletics at Detroit Tigers
The Detroit Tigers would like to have had a better year by ace pitcher Justin Verlander. His early season struggles will be the baseball gamblers advantage as the odds makers have had to adjust for his problems. In the game against the Oakland A’s on Wednesday afternoon, Verlander is just listed as a (-123) favorite. That is good news for me as I am on Detroit in this game. The Athletics are 1-5 in their last 6 games as an underdog of +110 to +150 and the Tigers are 7-2 in their last 9 games as a favorite. This includes a record of 64-30 in Verlanders last 94 home starts. The value is there and I will back the Tigers.
Free MLB Pick: Detroit Tigers -123
New York Mets at Atlanta Braves
It has been awhile since I have backed a huge dog, but I am back with a big barking bet with the New York Mets. The Braves are 2-7 in their last 9 games as a home favorite and 3-8 in the last 11 games as a home favorite. Jacob deGrom has been a surprising starter for the Mets and he has been pitching very well. That is all I need to take a shot on this live underdog.
Free MLB Pick: New York Mets +176
Philadelphia Phillies at Miami Marlins
While I took advantage of the starting ace with a low line in the Tigers game, I will fade it in this game. Cole Hamels is not the same pitcher that he has been in the past. This betting line has been adjusted during the season and it shows just how far that Hamels has fallen. The Phillies are 10-25 in their last 35 road games when playing against a team with a winning home record and 2-5 in Hamels’ last 7 starts as a favorite of -110 to -150. The Marlins are 6-1 in their last 7 home games with the total set at 6.5 or lower. Hamels is very hittable and the Marlins prove that by getting the win on Wednesday.
Free MLB Pick: Miami Marlins +110
