NCAA Football – Week 3
One of the most electrifying players in the nation will be back on display on Saturday afternoon at the Horseshoe for NCAA football betting fans, as the Ohio State Buckeyes face off with the Cal Golden Bears.
This is the last chance that Head Coach Jeff Tedford has to impressive outside of conference play, and in the likelihood that this one is lost and five games aren’t won in the Pac-12 schedule this year, odds have it, Tedford is out the door. He has the offense to be able to come into Columbus and put up some points, but it is obviously going to be a heck of a challenge against these stout Buckeyes. The offense definitely hasn’t been the problem with QB Zach Maynard and RB Isi Sofele leading the way. The Bears are good for 441.5 yards and 37.0 points per game, though those numbers are almost certainly going down this week. Instead, the questions have to be asked about a defense that allowed 31 points last week to the Southern Utah Thunderbirds and conceded 31 points in a loss to the Nevada Wolf Pack at home. This is the first game on the road for Cal all year long, and it has the potential to be brutal.
The real question is whether or not the Bears are going to be able to slow down QB Braxton Miller. Miller is the top rushing quarterback in the nation and the fifth overall leading rusher in the land with 302 yards, and he has already accounted for seven TDs on the campaign. Miller has a great ground game to work with as well, as he can turn around and hand the ball off to RB Carlos Hyde or RB Bri’onte Dunn. But again, it’s all about the defense. This unit has forced six turnovers in two games, and it has allowed just a total of three touchdowns. What’s scary is that we probably haven’t seen the best out of Head Coach Urban Meyer’s bunch yet, as there aren’t many teams in the land that we would say certainly wouldn’t have at least a chance of being shut out by OSU, especially here in Columbus.
It’s going to be a great spot for the Buckeyes to be in, and we think that they will successfully outdo the Golden Bears by at least 150 yards and at least three TDs on the scoreboard. Miller should have another game where he at least threatens 200 yards on the ground and 200 through the air, and that will take the air right out of Cal’s sails, as it has to travel all the way back to Berkeley with another loss in tote.
