The MLB postseason will continue with Division Series on Tuesday, October 11, when we have this NLDS tilt in Atlanta, so make sure you get the best Phillies vs. Braves betting pick and odds.

Philadelphia and Atlanta will play the first of a best-of-five NLDS series at Truist Park, and the Braves are -200 moneyline favorites on Bookmaker Sportsbook, while the total is set at 7 runs. These NL East foes have met 19 times this season, and the Braves lead 11-8.

Phillies swept the Cardinals to reach the NLDS

The Philadelphia Phillies came to St. Louis for the NLWC series as underdogs against the Cardinals, but not only they progressed to the NLDS, they managed to sweep the Cards. Philly made a comeback to win 6-3 in Game 1 after scoring six runs in the 9th inning, while the Phillies shut the Cardinals out in Game 2 to advance to the next round.

Aaron Nola was excellent in 6.2 shutout innings as he got six strikeouts and one walk in a 2-0 win. Zach Eflin earned a save. Bryce Harper blasted a solo home run in the 2nd inning, while Kyle Schwarber’s sac fly in the 5th was enough for the second run and a victory. Philadelphia registered only four hits opposite St. Louis’ seven, but that was more than enough for a win.

Ranger Suarez (10-7) is named a starter for the opening game of this NLDS series against Atlanta on Tuesday. The 27-year-old left-hander started 29 games this year and has a 3.65 ERA, 1.33 WHIP, and 129/58 K/BB ratio over 155.1 innings.

Braves enter the postseason after winning the NL East

The Atlanta Braves finished the regular season with a 101-61 record and ended above the New York Mets atop the NL East, which guaranteed them a bye in NLWC. Atlanta won eight of the previous 11 games and lost only one of the last six series, which proved to be against divisional rivals.

That loss came against the Miami Marlins in the final days of the regular season as Miami won 2-1 in Florida. It was a surprisingly high-scoring affair, which the Marlins won 12-9 after scoring nine runs between the 5th and 7th inning. The game produced 28 hits. Marcell Ozuna, Guillermo Heredia, and Matt Olson combined for seven runs Jesse Chavez took a loss in a game where the Braves decided to rest their starters and opt for the bullpen.

Max Fried (14-7) is getting a starting nod in the NLDS opener against Philadelphia on Tuesday. The 28-year-old left-hander started 30 games this season, which proved to be the best of his career, and registered a sublime 2.48 ERA, 1.01 WHIP, and 170/32 K/BB ratio across 185.1 innings of work.

Trends:

Philadelphia:

  • 6-13 in the last 19 road games with the total set at 7.0-8.5
  • 10-23 in the last 33 Tuesday games

Atlanta:

  • 6-1 in the last seven Divisional Playoff games
  • 7-1 in the last eight playoff home games
  • 5-0 in the last five vs. a team with a winning record

Philadelphia Phillies and Atlanta Braves Pick

Ranger Suarez was awful in his latest start against Houston, but his numbers against Philadelphia weren’t bad at all this season. He has a 3.21 ERA in five starts (1-2) in 28.0 innings and enjoyed a shutout display against the Braves the last time out. On the other hand, Max Fried was excellent in September as he had a 2.00 ERA in five starts, two of which were against Philadelphia. He registered a 3.13 ERA in four starts (0-1) against Philly, and considering the Braves are better when it comes to batting against southpaws, I am going with the reigning World Series champs in this one.

Pick: Take the Braves at -1.5 Run Line (+110)

The Total

Atlanta is quite efficient against lefties this season with a .263 batting average and 5.12 runs per nine innings, and although the Braves didn’t have much success against Suarez this year, I am backing the hosts to test Ranger in this tilt. Still, I don’t expect Suarez to surrender more than two or three runs here, while I also don’t think Philadelphia, who prefers batting against right-handers, will score plenty of runs. Under is 4-1 in the Phillies’ last five during game 1 of a series; Under is 5-1 in the Braves’ previous six Divisional Playoff games, while Under is 6-2 in Atlanta’s last eight home games.Pick: Go Under 7 runs (-110)
