It’s the first game of the WNBA’s semifinals, a 5-game series
Two of the league’s current best, Minnesota, the defending champs (also won it in 2013)
Phoenix (won it all in 2014).
Each knows how to grab a playoff series ‘W’
and that starts tonight by taking Game One.
Points abound and totals are exceeded because there’s
no going through the motions at the end of this game,
the team that is trailing will foul to extend play and try
to pull the 1st game out with a Win.
The fouls will result in free throws, and points scored
with the clock NOT running.
Minnesota is 2nd in the WNBA in points scored: 85.8 per game.
Minny scored 95 & 85 points this season against Phoenix.
Phoenix scored 101 points in its last game, which is a ton for the ladies,
but typical for 3rd best scoring offense all season long at 84.6 pts per game.
Now if both teams come out like I think they will, they will score in bunches
in trying to run the other team of the court – or just powerup a BLOWOUT…
that’s how their desire leads them to play it. Thus, at the average scoring
of each club, the game really ought to go over by quite a few points.
And Phnx catching 6 points is also worth a shot in a game that will go down
to the wire where the last basket (or two) will decide everything…
