UFC fighter Josh Samman has died
after spending nearly a week in a Hollywood Florida hospital. He was only 28.

Dr. Craig Mallak, the chief medical examiner for Broward County, says
Samman had been hospitalized for five days, two of which he was brain-dead,
before being declared dead Wednesday morning at a hospice.

Mallak said toxicology tests had been completed and the cause of death
would be listed as a probable drug overdose.

According to a report issued by the Hollywood Police Department, officers
investigating a call of a possible drug overdose found Samman unresponsive but with a pulse

Thursday night, and Troy Kirkingburg, a friend and an MMA announcer,
was pronounced dead at the scene. Police say there were no signs of foul play.
The two were found by a friend, who called 911.

Dan “Hendo” Henderson, arguably the USA’s
answer to Holland’s supreme fighter Bas Ruten,
has retired after 20 years of fighting the world’s
very best, elite fighters at the summit of the
profession. Henderson’s class act in and out
of cages, rings and octagons is only matched
by Bas Ruten (and Ali in his better moments).

    Dan Hendo
    Bas Ruten
= magnetic charisma elevating pro fighting !!

The only significant title to elude Hendo’s top-
tier toughness is an Undisputed UFC belt.
    The only one.

Hendo’s low-key nature matched the less than
ceremonious finale to his professional fighting,
decided not by his right-hand “H-Bomb,” but
instead by a panel of judges who saw his clean
and uncut face, his significant ground & pound
on Bisping’s face that was a cut up and bleeding
mess along with a broken nose, to somehow not
be enough convincing that the fight did not go
    too well for Bisping.

In a what the public seen as a most controversial
call, the judges voted unanimously to make Hendo
    lose the decision.

    Hendo announced,
“What happened to the cheers before the fight?”
“Fortunately for you guys, and unfortunately for the
guys who didn’t come, that was the last time anyone
    will see me fight live.
“I appreciate all the support throughout the years, worldwide.

I gave my heart and soul to this sport, and fans like you,
even though you booed me at the beginning of the night,
made it worthwhile for me to keep competing year after year.
    I absolutely love the sport.
And I want to say thank you to the fans for making this fight
happen and thank you to Bisping for giving me this opportunity.

My last fight for a belt I came up a little short,
but not bad for an old man.”

Hendo was 46 years young on the date of the bout, 8-X-16.

Ronda Rousey, former UFC women’s bantamweight champ returns
to the octagon after more than a year off to face Amanda Nunes
in a title fight on Dec. 30th in Vegas at T-Mobile Arena.

The bout will headline UFC 207, this year’s version of the
locally-based promotion’s Annual New Year’s Eve weekend card.

UFC President Dana White announced the news on “The Herd.”

Rousey has dealt with injuries and focused on her acting career
since getting KO’D by Holly Holm at UFC 193, Nov. 2015.
which still stands as the biggest upset in UFC history (+850),
some books on the Strip offered (+1150), so shopping paid.

The 135-pound division championship belt that had only
belonged to Rousey has changed hands twice in her absence.
Miesha Tate upset Holm via submission at UFC 196 in March,
before Nunes returned the favor KOing Tate at UFC 200 in July.
Unlike Tate & Holm, Nunes preferred to wait for Rousey’s return
to defend her title, in a massive-selling pay-per-view event.
Rousey’s last fight surpassed 1 million pay-per-view buys,
and her comeback might be even net more.
