NCAAF Betting Odds: VietBet
Pointspread: Florida State -3
Total Line: OFF
Florida State beat Clemson 49-37 last season on its way to the 2012 ACC title. This extended the straight-up winning streak in this Atlantic Division showdown to six games for the home team. The Seminoles failed to cover against the spread as 14.5-point home favorites to fall to just 1-5 ATS in the last six meetings. This season, Florida State is off to a perfect 5-0 SU start and it is a profitable 4-1 ATS. The total has gone OVER in all five of its games.
The Seminoles bring a powerful one-two punch into Saturday night’s game with an offense that is ranked 18th in the nation in passing and 17th in running the ball complementing a defense that is ranked third in the nation in average points allowed (12.0). This unit did give-up 34 points in a Week 4 victory over Boston College, but it held its other four opponents to a combined 26 points.
The Tigers fully realize that a win in this game would not only put them in the driver seat in the ACC title race, but establish this team as a legitimate contender for the BCS title game if it can run the table in the rest if its games. Behind Heisman hopeful Tajh Boyd at quarterback, Clemson is ranked 10th in the nation in passing yards per game. He has thrown for 1,783 yards and 15 touchdowns, while completing an impressive 66.5 percent of his attempts.
Clemson’s offense is averaging 40.8 points a game, and it has also been stingy on defense; allowing an average of just 16.2 points to its opponents. The result has been a solid 6-0 SU (3-3 ATS) run that got underway with a 38-35 victory over Georgia as a 1.5-point underdog at home in its season opener. After getting by Boston College this past Saturday 24-14 as 24-point home favorites, the total has stayed UNDER in three of the Tigers’ last four games.
Free NCAA Football Pick
This should be a great matchup between the pride and joy of the ACC this season. It has been a while since this conference has boasted two top-five teams. The free pick for this contest is Clemson plus the three points as I am sticking with the home team’s current winning streak in this series to remain intact.
