Lyon is a point ahead of St Etienne and they can practically secure Champions League place with a win here but Marseille will try to spoil their plan. The game between Marseille and Lyon will take place at Stade Velodrome on May 12h, 2019.
MARSEILLE vs. LYON
Three-Way: 1: Marseille +200; X: +280 Draw; 2: Lyon +120 at BetDSI Sportsbook
Spread 0: Marseille +127; Lyon -137
Total 3 goals: Over -120; Under -103
Entering the closing stages of the season, Marseille won just two of their previous seven league matches (W2, D2, L3), however, those games have not been short of entertainment. Six of those seven fixtures saw both teams score, and additionally, five had over 2.5 match goals.
When playing in front of their own fans, Rudi Garcia’s men often start stronger than their opponents. They have scored the opening goal in six of their previous seven home league matches, and have gone on to grab a second without reply in four of those encounters.
Rudi Garcia will be without Florian Thauvin (ankle), Bouna Sarr (knee), and Adil Rami who are all injured and will not be able to feature on Sunday.
- Marseille forward Valere Germain has three goals in his previous four L1 matches – all three came in the second half
- Marseille scored in each of their previous four league games – but conceded at least one goal in response
Fighting to remain in Ligue 1’s top three, Lyon is in a fine run of just two defeats in their previous nine league games (W5, D2, L2). It’s not surprising that the Kids can boast the third-best attack in the division given they have scored two or more goals in six of those nine matches, including in each of their previous three. Four of the seven goals they scored in those three matches came in the first half.
The visitors have been the dominant force between these sides in recent times, winning each of the previous four H2H L1 meetings. Eight of their 12 goals scored during that time arrived after half-time.
Bruno Genesio cannot count on Rafael (thigh), Fernando Marcal (thigh), Jason Denayer, and Kenny Tete and they will not be ready to face Marseille.
- He may have no goal in eight league matches, but Lyon captain Nabil Fekir can boast two goals in his previous three games against Marseille
- Lyon scored in the opening 15 minutes in each of their previous three L1 matches
Lyon won five of the previous ten H2H encounters (D4, L1) including the last three, while the Kids were victorious in the latest meeting at Stade Velodrome. Marseille failed to beat Lyon at home in the last four matches but the rivals drew three of the previous five duels at this venue and I believe the visitors will be happy with a point in this one and that’s why I am going with a draw.
MY PICK: Draw (+280)
ADDITIONAL PICK: The last two clashes between these sides produced 11 goals in total and both teams scored at least two goals in the process and I expect to see another high-scoring affair here. I am backing the foes to combine for at least three goals with goals on both ends.
MY PICK: Over 2.5 & BTTS (-125)
