Five Prop Bets to Consider for Super Bowl LII

Last Updated: 2018-01-31

sb propsNFL Super Bowl week is here and here are some thoughts on props for the big game. Thanks for reading my recap pieces throughout the season and good luck with the Super Bowl! Props and lines available from BetOnline as of Tuesday morning.

Patriots to win by 1-6 points +325 or Eagles to win by 1-6 +300 – The Patriots may have many Super Bowl rings, but in the big game they have not been able to blow out any teams. The games are competitive and close even in the games they lose. This is a great opportunity for people who have already laid the points with the Patriots or taken points with the Eagles. This prop provides a way to leverage an existing play on the game either way.

Score in the final two minutes of the 1st Half -300 – All teams practice the two minute drill constantly during the season, and offenses usually have a script for the drive. The scripting of drives is used to attack the defenses weaknesses to get into positive territory. The best part about this bet is if a team stalls inside two minutes the other team will most likely try if the clock allows. Since the playoffs started teams have scored 6 of 8 times in the final two minutes, and the other 2 were missed field goals (49 and 53 yards). The season trend looks similar. Lay the number here as this should cash.

Over 3.5 field goals +100 – The current line suggests this should be a close game, and both kickers have the luxury of being inside. The earliest part of Super Bowl games tend to be very conservative and points are at a premium so team will not gamble as much settle for the three points. Both kickers are very accurate so except the coaches to trust their special teams. Over is the play here.

Total punts 8.5 -110 – As mentioned previously Super Bowls tend to start very conservative, so there will be punts. The first quarter of this game should provide at least three. If this game will be as close as the line indicates then this should easily sail over. The Patriots are notorious for slow starts in the big game so expect at least two from them in the first quarter. The Eagles have been a team that has gambled on fourth down this season, so it will be interesting to see if the coach continues this trend in the big game. If the Patriots plan defensively is to make Nick Foles defeat them through the air then expect a few failed drives. Look for this to go OVER.

Field goal of 46 yard or longer -150 – This prop falls in line with things mentioned above. A 46 yard field goal indoors should be no problem for either of these kickers. This prop is a great one to play all season long as well. There will be field goals and expect one to be OVER 46 yards.

  1. No disrespect but betting both sides of a 3/1 shot IMO it’s not right. Pats win by 1-6 +325 -$100 for the Philly bet +$225 Philly Win +300 -$100 for the Pat bet = +$200 Both lose I lose $200. So I’m risking $200 hoping for a close game for an even Money. payout and the score can’t be over 6 points by the winner. IMO there’s no value. The only I think there’s Value is the Over 46 yard FG.
Both teams will go for 4th Downs and short of course depending on score, yardage etc: With taking scoring into consideration I don’t think they’ll be enough Processions for Over 8.5 Punts and also Over 3.5 Field goals and a split there’s no profit only a loss. Best of luck. Just one man’s opinion.
