The 2022 Stanley Cup continues Sunday, May 8, with Game 4 of the Eastern Conference First Round series between Edmonton and Los Angeles, so we bring you the best Oilers vs. Kings betting pick and odds.

Edmonton leads 2-1 and opens as a firm -155 road favorite for Game 4. Los Angeles is a +135 moneyline underdog, while the totals are listed at 6.5 goals on MyBookie Sportsbook

The Oilers demolished LA in Game 3

The Edmonton Oilers put on a show last Friday and trounced the Los Angeles Kings 8-2 as -150 moneyline favorites in Game 3. Edmonton had a 5-0 lead midway through the second period, and after the Kings netted two straight goals, the Oilers scored three unanswered goals in the third period.

Evander Kane led the charge for the Oilers with a hat trick. Zach Hyman and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins tallied a couple of goals each, while Connor McDavid made a pair of dishes. Mike Smith had another big night between the pipes and yielded just two goals on 46 shots.

After a 4-3 defeat in the opening game of the series, Edmonton blanked Los Angeles 6-0 in Game 2. Smith posted 30 stops to grab a shutout, while Evander Kane scored a pair of goals and made one assist.

The Kings desperately need to improve their defense

The Los Angeles Kings made it to the playoffs mostly thanks to their defense. They were yielding 2.83 goals per game, enough for the ninth-best D in the league, but the previous two games against the Oilers have been a complete disaster.

Jonathan Quick has guarded the cage in the previous three contests. The 36-year-old veteran goalie yielded six goals on 36 shots in Game 2. After surrendering four goals on 17 shots in Game 3, Quick was replaced with Cal Petersen, who yielded four goals as well but on 20 shots.

The Kings haven’t announced who’ll get the starting call Sunday. Petersen was 20-14-2 with a 2.90 GAA and .895 save percentage in the regular season, and he’s winless in three straight starts. Hereof, I’m expecting Quick to get another nod. He went 23-13-9 with a 2.59 GAA and .910 save percentage in 2021-22.

Trends:

Edmonton:

  • 5-1 in the last six games overall
  • 6-2 in the last eight games on the road

Los Angeles:

  • 1-5 in the last six games against Edmonton
  • 1-7 in the last eight games played in May

Edmonton Oilers vs. Los Angeles Kings Pick

The Oilers have been unstoppable over the last two games, and the Kings just couldn’t deal with Edmonton’s dynamic frontline. We all know how dangerous Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl are, but Evander Kane has been the Oilers’ key guy in the previous two contests.

I’m expecting to see another strong performance from Edmonton. Their defense might be a problem, but Mike Smith has been terrific over the previous two contests. If Smith continues to impress, the Oilers will easily come out on top.

Pick: Take Edmonton Oilers at -155

The Total:

The Kings will stand a chance only if they find a way to keep the Oilers in check. Los Angeles just has to put on a strong defensive performance and slow down things on the ice as much as possible. Hereof, I’m not expecting to see ten goals on the scoreboard once more, but you never know with this Edmonton team.

I lean the under, hoping to see a much better defensive performance from the Kings. The visitors to win still remain my best Oilers vs. Kings betting pick.

Pick: Go under 6.5 goals at -105
