Spread : DR Congo -1.25
Total : 2.25 Goals
With the 2018 World Cup coming in less than a year from now, there are still some teams looking to book their ticket for the Group Stage. DR Congo managed to grab a hard-fought win in their last match and kept their qualification hopes alive. They will play host to the indifferent Guinea on Saturday, who have been tragic overall, having lost 4 of their 5 matches so far. DR Congo will be looking for a win here, combined with an unlikely Tunisia loss to Libya in the other match in order to qualify.
DR Congo Preview :
DR Congo (3-1-1) are coming into this match after a really strong performance on the road against Libya, whom they eventually defeated by 1-2.
They are still sitting at the 2nd spot of Group A with 10 points, having scored 11 goals against 6 conceded. They are 3 points behind Group leaders Tunisia, who have scored 11 goals against 4 conceded.
DR Congo will now look for a win against Guinea, hoping that Tunisia will lose at home against Libya in the other match. It’s quite unlikely, but it’s DR Congo’s only chance to capture the top spot.
They have been really strong at home, where after a massive 4-0 against Libya, they were stuck at a 2-2 draw against Tunisia. However, they had taken a two goal lead in that match, but conceded two goals in a 2 minute span.
They do have some Premier League players in their roster, like Bournemouth’s F Benik Afobe, West Ham’s D Artur Masuaku and Newcastle’s D Chancel Mbemba. However, there is a lack of a major name in their roster.
Guinea Preview :
Guinea (1-0-4) have failed to shine in these World Cup Qualifiers, as they have won just one of their 5 matches so far, losing the other 4. Their only win was a hard-fought 3-2 at home against Libya, where they scored the winning goal at the stoppage time.
They have been rather weak on the road, where they have lost both their matches without even scoring. After a 2-0 against Tunisia, they even lost to Libya by 1-0.
They never really had any qualification chances with this roster, that might lack the presence of a big name, but they do have some really promising youngsters. They have Manchester United’s Paul Pogba’s two brothers, defender Florentin and forward Mathias, along with various other young talent.
The team is not ready for big things yet, and there is no wondering why they are sitting at the 3rd spot of Group A with 3 points, just as many as Libya.
DR Congo vs Guinea Head-to-Head Stats :
DR Congo won by 1-2 in the first round, when they had to come back from one goal behind.
Moreover, they have had the upper hand in this match-up over the years (2-2-1).
There hae been goals from both sides in 4 of the 5 matches between the two teams, with all these matches also having Over 2.5 Goals.
DR Congo vs Guinea Prediction :
DR Congo know that they are in a really tough position right now, as their qualification is not entirely up to them. They will not only need to win here, but they will also need Tunisia to lose to the visiting Libya. In any case, they should be able to do their duties here with a win, and hope for good news from the other match.
DR Congo vs Guinea Betting Tips :
The home win seems like a no-brainer here, but there are dangers ahead. If Tunisia are winning against Libya (the two matches are played at the same time), then DR Congo might be demoralized during the match. It is an already anxiety-packed match for them, so Guinea might find ways to hurt them. Both Teams to Score is a sneaky pick here @ 2.45, but I will only bet on it on Live, provided that Tunisia are winning. Guinea should be able to defend a +1.5 goal handicap @ 1.73, as they will be looking to finish off with a nice performance.
