Denmark made quite a shaky start in the 2018 World Cup Qualifiers, but they were excellent in the 2nd round and eventually sealed the 2nd spot of Group E. They will now play host to Ireland on Saturday, November 11th, who managed to secure the 2nd spot in literally the final match-day of the group stage, when they grabbed a massive road win against Wales. The two teams will now fight against each other for a spot in the World Cup Group Stage.
Denmark Preview :
Denmark suffered a couple of tough losses in their first 3 matches in the Qualifiers, that really left them hanging.
However, they didn’t lose a single match after that, and with a nice 5-2-0 record they managed to finish at the 2nd spot of Group E with 20 points.
They were really strong at home (3-1-1), where they only lost to Montenegro quite unexpectedly, and were held to a 1-1 draw against Romania.
Tottenham’s playmaker Christian Eriksen is the star of that team, as he has already scored 8 goals in the Qualifiers, to go with 3 assists.
There has been little productivity from other players, as Delaney has scored 4 and Cornelius has scored a couple more.
Ireland Preview :
Ireland were drawn into a really competitive group, that might have lacked a huge name, but 4 pretty equal teams fought for the two top spots.
Serbia eventually finished at the top spot with 21 points, while Ireland defeated Wales in the last match and finished 2nd with 19. Wales had 17 and Austria had 15 points.
Ireland made a great start in the World Cup Qualifiers as they went undefeated in their first 7 matches, with their only loss coming against Serbia by 0-1 at home.
However, it was their performance in their final match against a Bale-less Wales side, as they managed to prevail in this British battle by 0-1 on the road. Winning there was the only way for them to capture the 2nd spot, and they did exactly that.
Denmark vs Ireland Head-to-Head Stats :
The last time there two met in a competitive match was back in 1993, where the two teams played for a couple of draws in the World Cup Qualifiers (1-1 in Ireland, 0-0 in Denmark).
Overall, there has been total balance between the two sides, with each side having won 3 matches, while 4 matches have ended as draws.
Denmark just slightly have the upper hand as hosts in this match-up (2-2-1).
Denmark vs Ireland Prediction :
Denmark have made a comeback in the European scene, and they have a couple of really talented leaders to push them through. However, they will need to fend off an Ireland side who has scored in all their road matches so far.
Denmark vs Ireland Betting Tips :
Ireland had 8 of their 10 matches feature Under 2.5 Goals, so that stat is something to look at @ 1.51. However, Ireland managed to score in all their road matches, so I wouldn’t be surprised if we saw goals from both sides here @ 2.20. However, I believe that Denmark will be able to record a win at home one way or the other @ 1.80.
