The final game of a 14-game slate on Monday, July 4 is a divisional rivalry tilt in the City of Angels, and here you can get the best Rockies vs. Dodgers betting pick and odds.

Colorado and Los Angeles will open a three-game series at Dodger Stadium, and the Dodgers are massive -280 moneyline favorites on BetDSI Sportsbook. These National League West foes met six times this season, and the Rockies lead the series 4-2.

Rockies came from behind to beat the Diamondbacks

The Colorado Rockies lost the opening game of a three-game series against the Arizona Diamondbacks at home but then responded with two victories. The latter one was quite pleasing for the Rockies fans as they erased a five-run deficit to secure a 6-5 comeback win.

C.J. Cron was a game-changer in this one as he blasted a couple of three-run homers and drove all six runs for the Rockies. After an exceptional complete game and shutout against the Dodgers, Chad Kuhl had a rough start. He allowed five runs on seven hits with two strikeouts and one walk in 5.0 innings. Jake Bird recorded his first win in the majors, while Daniel Bard earned his 16th save of the campaign.

Kyle Freeland (4-5) will start for the 16th time this year when Colorado takes on Los Angeles on Monday. The 29-year-old southpaw owns a 4.31 ERA, 1.38 WHIP, and 58/26 K/BB ratio over 85.2 innings of work. Freeland met the Dodgers twice this season and has a 1-1 record with a 7.45 ERA in 9.2 innings.

Dodgers dropped the lead late in a loss to the Padres

The Los Angeles Dodgers suffered the first loss in five games although they were very close to securing a tight victory. Two outs separated the Dodgers from sweeping a four-game series against the San Diego Padres at home, but in the end, the visitors celebrated a 4-2 win. Even so, the Dodgers are top of the National League with a 49-29 record.

Los Angeles had a 1-0 lead since the opening inning and entered the top 9th with that minimal lead, but closer Craig Kimbrel blew up a save and took a loss after allowing three runs on three hits. He suffered an injury along the way and exited after only 0.1 innings. Clayton Kershaw controlled the visitors with no runs on four hits with eight strikeouts and a walk over 7.0 innings.

Julio Urias (6-6) is getting his 16th start of the season and is looking for his fourth win in a row. The 25-year-old left-hander has an excellent 2.64 ERA, 1.03 WHIP, and 76/20 K/BB ratio in 81.2 innings. Urias faced the Rockies twice this year and has a 1-1 record with a 7.36 ERA over 7.1 innings.

Trends:

Colorado:

  • 8-2 in the last ten vs. National League West opponents

Los Angeles:

  • Lost four of six games against Colorado this season

Colorado Rockies vs. Los Angeles Dodgers Pick

Kyle Freeland continues to improve following a poor opening month of the season. He had a 3-0 record in five starts in June, and one of those victories was against the Dodgers. Urias also experienced the best month of the year as he registered a 2.20 ERA with a 3-1 record in five starts. Just like Freeland, Urias’ previous W came against the Rockies.

Both offenses are very strong against southpaws, so it’s going to be interesting to see how they’ll fare in this one. The Dodgers are a better team and are closer to the victory, but I am pretty sure the Rockies will put up a fight.

Pick: Take the Rockies +1.5 at +115

The Total

Talking about these offenses and their record against lefties, the Rockies are .296 at-bat with 5.92 runs per nine innings. The Dodgers, on the other hand, are .244 AB with 5.23 runs. Over is 6-2 in the Dodgers’ last eight home games vs. a left-handed starter, while Over is 4-1-1 in Los Angeles’ previous six vs. a team with a losing record. Also, Over is 3-0-1 in the Rockies’ last four overall.

Pick: Go Over 8.5 runs at -110
