The 2022 Stanley Cup betting action continues Friday, May 27, with Game 6 of the Western Conference Semifinals between Colorado and St. Louis, so we have prepared the best Avalanche vs. Blues betting pick.

According to MyBookie Sportsbook, the Avalanche are -170 road favorites for Friday’s contest at Enterprise Center. The Blues are listed as +150 moneyline dogs, and the totals sit at 6.5 goals.

The Avs blew a massive opportunity in Game 5

The Colorado Avalanche are still one win away from the conference finals. After a couple of road victories in Games 3 and 4, the Avs blew a three-goal lead in Game 5 on the home ice and missed a huge chance to finish the job.

Nathan MacKinnon scored twice in the first period, while Gabriel Landeskog netted his sixth goal of the postseason to make it 3-0 after just four minutes of play in the second period. MacKinnon completed a hat trick late in the third period to give his team a 4-3 lead, but it wasn’t enough.

Darcy Kuemper didn’t have a good day in the office in Game 5. He surrendered five goals on 30 shots and dropped to 5-2 in the postseason. Kuemper has allowed 15 goals and recorded an underwhelming .891 save percentage throughout this series.

The Blues survived Game 5 on the back of their offense

The St. Louis Blues desperately need more from Ville Husso if they want to somehow eliminate the Avalanche. Since Jordan Binnington’s injury in Game 3 against the Avs, Husso has yielded 13 goals on 93 shots to record a poor .860 save percentage.

The 27-year-old goalie surrendered four goals on 34 shots last Wednesday, but the Blues’ offense put on a tremendous performance down the stretch to lift the Blues over the Avalanche. Robert Thomas scored a couple of third-period goals, while Tyler Bozak hit the winner in overtime.

The Blues cannot count on Jordan Binnington for Game 6. Defenseman Torey Krug is questionable to play due to a lower-body injury, and he’s been sidelined since May 6. At least, defenseman Marco Scandella returned to the action on Wednesday and spent 10:43 on the ice.

Trends:

Colorado:

  • 5-0 in the last five road games against St. Louis
  • 7-2 in the last nine games overall

St. Louis:

  • 4-15 in the last 19 games against Colorado
  • 2-5 in the last seven games at home

Colorado Avalanche vs. St. Louis Blues Pick

The Avalanche have to bounce back from a shocking loss in Game 5. They are arguably a better team than the Blues, who’ll have to deal with Jordan Binnington’s absence. Ville Husso has been awful so far this postseason, and I’m expecting to see more of the same in Game 6.

On the other side, Darcy Kuemper needs to step up and make amends for his poor showing last Wednesday. The Avs acquired Kuemper to help them win the championship, as Darcy has been one of the best goaltenders in the league over the last few years. The Blues are a top-notch offensive team, and the Avs need Kuemper at his best.

Pick: Take Colorado Avalanche at -170

The Total:

After a couple of five-goal contests at Ball Arena, the Avalanche and Blues have combined for seven or more goals in their next three encounters. St. Louis cannot count on its defense to make the difference, so I’m expecting to see another high-scoring affair.

The over is 9-2 in the last 11 meetings between the Avs and Blues, and it is 5-0 in their previous five dates at Enterprise Center. Also, five of Colorado’s last seven games and ten of St. Louis’ previous 15 have gone over the total.

Pick: Go over 6.5 goals at -110
