The 2022 NHL Playoffs continue Monday, May 23, with Game 4 of the Western Conference semifinal series between Colorado and St. Louis, so we bring you the best Avalanche vs. Blues betting pick and odds.

According to Bookmaker Sportsbook, the Avalanche are -160 moneyline favorites for Monday night’s clash at Enterprise Center in St. Louis. The Blues are +144 home underdogs, while the totals are listed at 6.5 goals.

The Avs bounced back but didn’t impress

After splitting the first two contests on the home ice, the Colorado Avalanche beat the Blues 5-2 as -170 road favorites in Game 3 this past Saturday. They overcame an early one-goal deficit, but the Avs didn’t impress with their performance, taking just 27 shots toward the Blues’ goalies and recording 12 hits fewer than their opponents (37-25).

Darcy Kuemper led the charge for the Avalanche in Game 3. The 32-year-old netminder posted 29 saves to improve to 4-1 on the postseason. He owns a strong 1.99 GAA and .926 save percentage, so Kuemper will certainly patrol the crease Monday in Game 4.

Artturi Lehkonen scored a couple of goals last Saturday, while Mikko Rantanen made a pair of assists. The Avalanche desperately need more from Nathan MacKinnon, who has yet to score a goal in this series. Samuel Girard suffered a broken sternum in the last game, and the 24-year-old defenseman will miss the rest of the playoffs.

The Blues lost Game 3 and Jordan Binnington

Since he took over in Game 4 of the first-round series against Minnesota, Jordan Binnington has done a terrific job for the Blues. The 28-year-old goalie has gone 4-1 with a 1.72 GAA and .949 save percentage, including a 51-save display in a 3-2 overtime defeat at Colorado in the opening clash of the series.

Binnington left Saturday’s contest after 6:45 of play in the first period. He suffered a knee injury and will be sidelined for a few weeks. Binnington’s absence is a massive blow for the Blues, who are already without defensemen Torey Krug and Marco Scandella.

Ville Husso will guard the cage in Game 4, and the 27-year-old Finnish is 1-3 with an underwhelming 3.38 GAA and .891 save percentage this postseason. He went 25-7-6 with a 2.56 GAA, .919 SV%, and two shutouts this past regular season.

Trends:

Colorado:

  • 6-1 in the last seven games overall
  • 7-3 in the last ten outings on the road as favorites

St. Louis:

  • 2-8 in the last ten games against Colorado

Colorado Avalanche vs. St. Louis Blues Pick

The Blues are in big trouble. Jordan Binnington was their key player in the 2022 Stanley Cup, so I’m expecting the Avalanche to win this battle. Ville Husso enjoyed a solid regular season, but he’s struggled through three playoff contests against the Wild.

On the other side, Darcy Kuemper is doing a good job for Colorado. He’s been one of the best goalies in the league for years, so I’m looking for another strong performance. Both teams have plenty of dangerous weapons on the offensive side of the ice, and it’s hard to trust the Blues’ defense at the moment.

Pick: Take Colorado Avalanche at -160

The Total:

After a couple of five-goal contests at Ball Arena in Colorado, I was expecting a high-scoring affair in Game 3 at Enterprise Center. As I’ve mentioned above, both teams are very dangerous and can score a few goals against any defense in the league.

Hereof, I would stick with the over in Game 4. Five of the last six encounters between the Avs and Blues at Enterprise Center have gone over the total. Also, the over is 4-2 in Colorado’s previous six showings away from home.

Pick: Go over 6.5 goals at -115
