College Football Upset of the Week – Week 8
- Updated: October 20, 2011
Upsets in college football are never easy to identify and going out on a limb with the upset pick, is always a risk. In week eight in college football the upset of the week is one of the riskiest of the year as a team in the top ten in the BCS rankings could easily lose if they are not fully prepared.
The Arkansas Razorbacks have an explosive offense and recently was ranked as high as nine in the latest BCS Rankings. Their only loss on the season is to a quality Alabama team that is tops in the country and now they have a chance to lose to the lowly Ole Mississippi Rebels.
The theory is simple; the Rebels are having an awful year and have little to look forward to. Their current coach knows Arkansas as Houston Nutt spent years as a Razorback and is still familiar with some of the people at the school, so he is tremendously focused on winning this week.
The college football sports betting trends in this game have some that lean to the home team. The Rebels are 15-3 ATS in their last 18 games after scoring less than 20 points in their previous game, 24-7 ATS in their last 31 games as an underdog of 10.5 or greater, and 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games following a double-digit loss at home.
On the other hand the Razorbacks are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games as a road favorite of 10.5 or greater and although they can put some points on the board, covering the big number has never been easy. The Hogs are officially on upset alert this week and although they may not lose, it will be much closer than the expert think.
Upset Of the Week: Mississippi +16.5
