College Football Upset of the Week – Week 12
- Updated: November 18, 2011
College Football upsets is crucial to the college football season. Just one bad loss at this time of the year can destroy any chance of a big bowl game or any chance of playing in the college football post season. In week twelve the college football upset is in the ACC.
Clemson is one of the best teams in the country and after a devastating loss to the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets they lost their national title hopes. That was a big pill to swallow and since then the Tigers have limped through games and play with little urgency. This is because their ACC division is a lock. Because of this they have trouble getting motivated for games, and this road game against the North Carolina State Wolf pack will be no exception. This is a familiar pattern as the Tigers are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games in November.
North Carolina State is in a different situation. They need to win this game if they hope to become bowl eligible. A win against a top-ranked team to get bowl eligibility would only be sweeter. This line opened up at Clemson -9 and since the majority of the public betting cash is on Clemson and the line has dropped that shows that the smart money is on the home team. The Wolfpack are 18-7-2 ATS in their last 27 games as an underdog and 8-3-1 ATS in their last 12 home games.
This game may not end up in an outright upset, but don’t be surprised if the Wolfpack (+7) turns into the biggest upset of the week.
