College Football Upset of the Week – Week 11

Nebraska is on Upset Alert this weekend against the Penn State Nittany Lions

The stories around Penn State this week are all about the recent scandal of sexual abuse on former defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky. This has been a pure embarrassment and will lead to many, many ripples in the football program. One of those ripples is the resignation of long-time head coach Joe Paterno.

While it is debatable on what should happen to the coach and the many people involved in this case, there is no doubt that something needs to happen and many believe that the time was now to retire. Instead he will coach until the end of the season to include this weekend against Nebraska.

In a tearful speech he told his players and they gave him a standing ovation. That signifies that the players are on his side and that they will go to the wire for him. This is also senior day and will carry a wave of emotion along with it. The media will crush Happy Valley and turn it into a circus.

Nebraska is walking into the Lion’s den. Penn State wants to take out their frustration on someone and it will be the Huskers. The Cornhuskers are 4-9 ATS in their last 13 games as a favorite, 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games overall, and 1-6 ATS in their last 7 games in November. With the sports betting trends backing them up, the Huskers will get beaten outright on the road.

Due to the media firestorm, Penn State is an underdog at home and the end result will be the outright win. The college football upset of the week this weekend, will be in Happy Valley where the home team will win one game for Joe Pa, as he leaves the game and program he helped to create.
