College Football Lock of the Week – Week 12
- Updated: November 18, 2011
College football has its share of games that look very inviting to bet on. In football betting circles, that can be known as a lock, also known as the best bet on the board that cannot lose. Finding that type of bet is difficult, but very rewarding when it pays off. This week that lock is in the Big Ten.
This lock will happen in Ann Arbor when the Michigan Wolverines host the Nebraska Cornhuskers. The Cornhuskers had great resolve in a victory last week against Penn State in a very emotional atmosphere. Despite everything surrounding the scandal at Penn State the Cornhuskers were able to focus on playing football and get a win. That kind of energy takes a lot out of a team and let down can be expected this week. The trends don’t favor the Huskers here either.
The Cornhuskers are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games after accumulating less than 170 yards passing in their previous game, 1-6-1 ATS in their last 8 games in November, and 3-7-1 ATS in their last 11 games overall.
The Michigan Wolverines had a quick start out of the gate under first-year head coach Brady Hoke, but then stumbled. They seem to have recovered after that stumble and recently had a very big road win over Illinois. Now back home and with support of the home crowd, Michigan will be ready to win big.
The Wolverines are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games as a favorite and 5-1 ATS in their last 6 home games. Denard Robinson and the Wolverines will take advantage of an emotionally spent Nebraska team and get the easy win this weekend.
The Michigan Wolverines (-3) are the lock of the week over the Nebraska Cornhuskers.
