College Football Betting: Boise State Broncos vs. Idaho Vandals Picks
- Updated: November 12, 2010
Boise State Broncos
(8-0, 6-2 ATS)
(4-5, 4-5 ATS)
The Boise State Broncos have to be infuriated by the fact that they just cannot get out of the No. 4 hole in the country right now. They’ll take to the field at the Kibbie Dome, where the Idaho Vandals are going to take their best shot at beating the NCAA football odds on Friday night.
There’s absolutely nothing that the Broncos can’t do this year. Simply put, these guys are for real. The problem is that their schedule is incredibly weak, and their computers numbers just aren’t going to improve in relation to the rest of the great teams in the country that have no losses and one loss but are taking on quality foes week in and week out. QB Kellen Moore is going to be a finalist for the Heisman Trophy, and for good reason. He is coming off of a game in which he threw for 507 yards and three TDs, as his Broncos dropped a whopping 737 yards of offense on the Hawaii Warriors in a 42-7 romp. Boise State is putting 543.5 yards per game on its foes, and the wonder has to be there how close this number will get to 600 by the time the season is really over. When you’re averaging 47.0 points per game and have dropped at least 42 on every foe you’ve played in conference, there’s a good reason to believe that you have one of the best teams in America. However, even four victories might not absolutely guarantee the Broncos a bid to the BCS unless the TCU Horned Frogs slip between now and then.
The Vandals are irked that the departing Broncos are not renewing this rivalry when they head to the MWC next year. This will be the last time these teams are scheduled to meet, so you know the Kibbie Dome is going to be rocking, especially in a nationally televised game on Friday night. The issue that Idaho has though, is that its defense is coming off of the worst game that any team has had all season long in major college football. You thought that Boise State’s 737 yards were impressive against Hawaii? What do you think about the 844 yards the Nevada Wolf Pack dropped here in Moscow last week? In fact, this Idaho defense has been torched in back to back weeks now, allowing 108 points and well over 1,300 yards of offense in two games against Nevada and Hawaii. Now, it has to face its toughest task of the season. QB Nathan Enderle didn’t play in last year’s meeting of these instate rivals, but he’ll be leading the No. 4 passing attack in the nation into the biggest game of the year on Friday night.
We love our Broncos and know that they’re going to do everything they can to make this final score look as ridiculously lopsided as possible, but giving five TDs to a home team that is still probably going to end up in a bowl game is absurd. There aren’t NFL teams that we’d lay 35 with in the Kibbie Dome, and we certainly aren’t doing it with Boise State either.
