Things are getting interesting in the world of college basketball. Teams are starting to show their strengths and perhaps more importantly their weaknesses. This is the time of year when the college basketball handicapper should be taking some serious notes and looking at the things that they need to watch when betting on the hardwood. This could be anything and we will always be here to cover some of the things that you may have missed with our information filled college basketball betting sheet.
This week of basketball coming up is vital and that is why we are taking a peek at the schedule, looking at what teams may be home sick and then judging the value of current teams ranked in the top 25. Teams that are playing well now may not be able to sustain that caliber of play and we don’t want to overreact as handicappers. This college basketball betting sheet will cover the games and information from Monday December 4th to Thursday Dec ember 7th. Here is the information that you need to know when betting on college hoops this week.
Lions Looking For Home
The Penn State Nittany Lions are atop a logjam in the Big Ten basketball conference. They currently have seven wins and are tied with Michigan and Purdue for the best record in basketball in the Big Ten. They have also cashed in at the betting window with a 4-2-1 record against the spread (ATS). However if you look at the Penn State schedule, you will see that this record is even more impressive. They host Wisconsin on Monday night and the Badgers are just 3-5 SU and 2-5 ATS this season. Between neutral courts and away games, Penn State has only played one home game in the four out of five games. The Lions could be carrying plenty of motivation after beating Iowa for the first time since 2001.
Trojan Tear Down
The USC Trojans are currently ranked in the top 25, but that may not last long. In the start of the college basketball season teams are often ranked in the top 25 based on potential not on performance. This is the case with the Trojans who are often overvalued early in the season. They are just 3-3 ATS this season, but they are currently playing some poor basketball. The Trojans were (+3) point underdogs against SMU on Saturday night and they lost by 17 points and did not even come close to covering. They will get four days off to recover from their second loss in a row. The loss to SMU also revealed a popular betting system to keep an eye on. If a non-ranked team is favored over a ranked team, the non-ranked team is worth a look. They usually cash in like in the case of SMU over USC.
UCLA Looking For a Letdown
The UCLA Bruins have a lot going on. They have suspended players that they are trying to deal with. They have a defense that ranks 242nd in the country in points allowed and they have a tough schedule coming up at the end of this week. Before they get into conference play they will have to play at Michigan and against two teams currently ranked in the top 11. They are just 2-5 ATS this season and may be best to avoid for the next few weeks. With the big games coming this weekend they should not overlook the Montana Grizzlies on Wednesday. The Bruins are 2-6 ATS in their last 8 non-conference games and 2-7 ATS in their last 9 home games vs. a team with a losing road record. Montana is a team flying under the radar that could play sneaky good against UCLA.
