The Thanksgiving holiday signifies the end of many major sports as it is a sure sign that the college football season is winding down, but there is another sport that is just starting to take off. That sport is college basketball. For college basketball fans this is one of the best times of the season because we get to see some great teams play some great games. It of course does not compare to March when the best sports tournament in the world begins, but it may be getting closer.
This holiday season college basketball started a brand new tournament that has the world buzzing. This tournament is giving up a March like feel to the early season. It is also giving college basketball bettors a chance to bet on some big games during the holiday weekend. This weekend is loaded with big games with big named teams and big opportunities. All the college basketball handicapper has to do is find the right spots and games to bet on. We have you covered with this Thanksgiving holiday edition of the betting sheet.
Buying Into Bracketology?
It may be early in the season but many major sports sites are already releasing their projections for the field of 64 in the month of March. Although March is still months away the basketball handicapper may be able to take some value from looking at this guess at the final field that will be attempting to win a national championship. This bracket won’t show you anything about the top seeds that you don’t know already but it will show you things about the bottom feeders that you may not have realized are very good. In the latest brackets teams like Oakland, Mercer, Buffalo, Yale and Iona would make the field. These lower tiered teams may be the teams to keep on eye for basketball betting value if they go up against a good team in the near future.
The PK80 Brings March To November
The PK80 is a tournament worth watching and wagering on. The tournament held on the west coast to honor Phil Knight’s 80th birthday has some of the best teams in the country. North Carolina, Oklahoma, Michigan State and Oregon are in the Victory Bracket, while Duke, Butler, Texas, Gonzaga and Florida are in the Motion Bracket. They are playing 8 games in 14 hours and will do it all weekend long until a champion is crowned. Duke is the favorite to win it all and they won but failed to cover as 24.5 favorites in the opener against Portland State. They might be a team to bet this weekend however as they are 8-2-1 against the spread (ATS) in the last 11 games they have played overall.
Late Night Hoops
The college basketball fanatic will like to bet on hoops all weekend long. This includes the late night games that give them one last chance to basketball. Saturday morning at 1 a.m. Nevada will go up against Hawaii in the late night/early morning game of the weekend. Over 70 percent of the bets coming in on this game believe that Nevada will cover the double digit chalk as they are (-12.5) point favorites in this game. This could be due to the fact that the Wolf Pack are 4-1 against the number in the last five meetings and they have won five of the last six games away from home in college hoops.
