Neither side has been a strong over/under play this year. Athletics games have an over/under record of 44-44-3 so far in 2019. White Sox games have gone under 43 times, gone over 41 times and pushed on two instances.

Right-hander Ivan Nova will get the start for Chicago. Nova is 4-7 with a 5.58 ERA and 66 strikeouts. He has yet to face the Athletics this year and did not record a start against them in 2018, either.

The Athletics will turn to righty Mike Fiers (8-3, 3.87 ERA), who has 70 strikeouts and 30 walks as well as a WHIP of 1.10. Fiers made three starts against the White Sox in 2018, putting together a 1-0 record with a 3.71 ERA and 14 strikeouts.

Oakland’s pitching staff has given up 4.4 runs per game overall this year as a unit. The team’s starters have a 4.17 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 7.0 strikeouts per nine innings. The bullpen has a 3.91 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 9.0 K/9.

The White Sox have gained 4.3 units and are 25-33 ATS when facing a righty starter this season. The over has cashed in 26 of those games, compared to 30 that’ve gone under in such games. On the other hand, the Athletics have lost 2.9 units and are 33-33 ATS when facing a right-handed starting pitcher. The over’s hit in 31 of those games, as opposed to 33 which went under the total.

The daily grind of the Major League Baseball season has started and there are few things players look forward to during the season than a day off. While off days used to be reserved for travel, most teams have their own planes or charter planes and leave for the next destination right after their game, making an off day pretty much that, a day to relax and unwind.
