The 2022 Stanley Cup betting action goes on Tuesday, May 24, with Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals between Carolina and New York, so we have prepared the best Hurricanes vs. Rangers betting pick and odds.

According to MyBookie Sportsbook, the Rangers are small -115 moneyline favorites for Tuesday’s clash at Madison Square Garden. The Hurricanes are listed as -105 road underdogs, while the totals sit at 5.5 goals.

The Canes continue to struggle on the road

The Carolina Hurricanes are undefeated in six showings at home this postseason, but they have yet to win on the road. After three losses at the Boston Bruins in the first round, the Canes suffered a 3-1 defeat at the Rangers this past Sunday.

Carolina outshot New York 44-33 in Game 3 and won 11 faceoffs more than its rival. However, only Nino Niederreiter found the back of the net, tallying his fourth goal of the postseason. Sebastian Aho, who’s scored a goal in each of the first two contests against the Rangers, was a non-factor in Game 3, while Andrei Svechnikov extended his pointless streak to four games.

Antti Raanta has allowed only three goals over the previous three contests. He’s now 5-3 on the postseason, carrying a strong 1.86 GAA and .939 save percentage. Frederik Andersen, who’s been sidelined since mid-April, returned to practice on Monday and is questionable to play Tuesday.

The Rangers finally scored some goals

The New York Rangers have struggled mightily to find the back of the net in their first two games of this semifinal series against the Canes. They bounced back on the home ice, as Mika Zibanejad, Chris Kreider, and Tyler Motte all scored once.

Zibanejad has accounted for three goals and four assists over the final two games of the first-round series against the Penguins. He also made an assist in Game 3 against the Canes, increasing his postseason tally to 13 points (four goals and nine assists).

Igor Shesterkin struggled against the Pens, but he’s been outstanding over the previous three outings against the Canes. The 26-year-old netminder posted 43 stops last Sunday, and he’s surrendered only four goals in the semifinals.

Trends:

Carolina:

  • 4-19 in the last 23 road contests against the Rangers
  • 1-6 in the last seven outings as underdogs

NY Rangers:

  • 5-1 in the last six games at home

Carolina Hurricanes vs. New York Rangers Pick

The Rangers must be glad to see Igor Shesterkin at his best in this series. If Shesterkin continues with his strong performance, the Rangers will beat the Canes Tuesday and tie the series at 2-2. Back in the regular season, Shesterkin was arguably the best goalie in the NHL, posting a 36-13-4 record, 2.07 GAA, .935 save percentage, and six shutouts.

We should see another tight battle between a couple of top-notch defensive teams. The Hurricanes boasted the lowest-scoring defense in the league this past regular season, and the Rangers were right behind Carolina.

Pick: Take New York Rangers at -115

The Total:

After three proper low-scoring affairs, I can only back the under on the totals in Game 4. However, I don’t feel comfortable with a 5.5-goal line, so the hosts to win remains my best Canes vs. Rangers betting pick.

Seven of the last ten encounters between Carolina and New York have gone under the total. But the over is 5-1 in the Hurricanes’ last six showings on the road, and it is 7-3 in the Rangers’ previous ten contests overall.

Pick: Go under 5.5 goals at -115
