The California Golden Bears continue their trip in the desert this weekend in order to square off with the No. 9 ranked Arizona Wildcats. The Golden Bears are coming off from a 68-43 win against Arizona State on Wednesday. The Wildcats on the other hand are coming off from a 74-67 home win versus Stanford. Game tip-off is scheduled for Saturday, 10:00 PM ET.

The Golden Bears look to extend their winning streak to six games

The California Golden Bears (18-6, 9-3) look hot at the moment as they’ve lost only one of their last nine games. Most recent victory came against the Arizona State in a game in which they held the Sun devils to season low 43 points, field goal percentage (25.4) and three-points made (3). Grant Mullins led Cal with 18 points and six rebounds while Ivan Rabb added 14 points and game-high 11 rebounds. Charlie Moore and Jabari Bird scored 11 and nine while Bird also collected eight rebs. Game against the Wildcats will represent a big test for them. If they win it will be their first win over a Top 10 opponent since February 1, 2014 (69-58 vs. No.1 Arizona at home) and a first win over a Top 10 team on the road since February 10, 2013 (77-69 vs. No. 7 Arizona in Tucson). It will also be their fourth win against Top-10 ranked teams in last five years.

Ivan Rabb leads the team in statistical parameters with 15.2 points, 10.9 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game (52.o field goal percentage). Jabari Bird ranks second in scoring with 14.2 points per matchup. He also adds 4.9 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game. Currently he is tied for the sixth place of school’s all-time three-point field goals made list with 165. Another major contributor is Charlie Moore with 14.0 points per match. He is team leader in passing as he averages 3.8 assists per game.

The Wildcats are undefeated at home this year

The Arizona Wildcats (22-3, 11-1) are perfect at home this season with 13 victories. They stand on the top of the PAC-12 conference with one game advantage over the Oregon Ducks. They’ve also won 15 of their last 16 games (streak that goes since December 3, 2016) with only conference loss coming against the Ducks on the road one week ago. On Wednesday they have defeated Stanford in Tucson with Alonzo Trier leading the charge with 22 points and seven rebounds. Rawle Alkins scored 12 points and Chance Comanche added 11 from the bench. Comanche also added six rebounds while Kadeem Allen posted team-high six assists.

Five wildcats players average at least 11.2 points per game this year. Lauri Markkanen leads the way with 15.6 points while he also adds 7.3 rebounds per game. Just behind is Allonzo Trier with 15.5 points and 4.8 rebounds in only six games that he played. Rawle Alkins averages 11.8, Dusan Ristic 11.5 and Kobi Simmons 11.2 points per matchup. Statistically best ball distributor is Parker Jackson-Cartwright with 4.5 assists per game.

California Golden Bears at Arizona Wildcats Game Trends & Prediction

The Golden Bears are 10-14-0 ATS total, 7-12-0 home and 3-2-0 away. They are 12-12-0 against the Over/Under total, 9-10-0 at home and 3-2-0 away.

On the other side, the Wildcats  are 12-12-1 total against the Over/Under, 7-10-0 home and 5-2-1 away. They are 12-11-2 total ATS, 5-10-2 home and 7-1-0 away.

The Golden Bears score 70.2 ppg and allow 62.3 ppg this season while the Wildcats score 75.2 ppg and allow 63.8 ppg.

First meeting of the season between these two teams went Arizona's way, 67-62, in Berkeley on December 30, 2016. Golden Bears couldn't find an answer for Arizona's Dusan Ristic and Kobi Simmons who scored 30 points combined. Both teams are playing some good hoops at the moment but I'll give a little advantage to the home team, although it's closer to a tie because California showed in the past that most of their wins against ranked teams come against Arizona. Wildcats lead the all-time record 61-31 and they are 7-3 in last ten matchups. They also won last two games.

My Pick:   Arizona Wildcats -8

Total: over 125.5 points
