The TNT NBA schedule always promises two of the best games of the week and this Thursday night is no different. The Chicago Bulls head out west to take on the Denver Nuggets in the second half of the must see basketball doubleheader. The Bulls had a slow start to the season but now they have managed to start a winning streak that they hope to extend with a win against the Nuggets in prime time.
The Bulls head coach Tom Thibodeau has always preached strong defense and team chemistry. This is a formula that he has seen succeed with other teams that he has worked with in the past and is a mina reason that the Bulls have had some success under his command. However after losing their best player in Derrick Rose for a full year due to a torn ACL, it has taken this team some time to jell.
The team is playing better as a unit, but Rose has still yet to find his groove on the floor. The superstar has not been the same and is averaging a career low 15 points per game, while managing to shoot just 34 percent from the floor. Other Bulls have had to step up and fill in the void while he regains his from. One of those players, Jimmy Butler, who is averaging 11 points and four rebounds will miss this trip due to an injury he sustained in the last outing. Butler sprained his toe against the Charlotte Bobcats and will not be with the team for this very demanding six game road trip that they call the “circus trip”.
From a betting stand point this is a spot that the Bulls have struggled in the past. The Bulls are 3-7 against the spread (ATS) in their last 10 Thursday games and 7-22-1 ATS in their last 30 games playing on 2 days rest.
Their opponent, the Denver Nuggets, is in the midst of a losing streak and look to improve in this game. They have lost two straight games, despite the inspired play from Ty Lawson, who netted 29 points in the loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Nuggets ted to fade in close games as they only shot a meager 71 percent from the free throw line.
