Two of the best teams in the Eastern Conference are going to meet each other on Wednesday night in NHL betting action, as the Boston Bruins pay a visit to the Pittsburgh Penguins.
The Bruins were beaten for just the third time this season in their last game at home against the New Jersey Devils at home. The good news is that they haven’t lost a road game yet this season, going a perfect 4-0-0 in those games. We’ve seen it all out of the B’s this year, as they once again look like the complete package through 10 games. C David Krejci already has 12 points on the season, while LW Milan Lucic is right behind him with 11. RW Jarome Iginla looks a lot more comfortable right now in Boston than he did last year when he was with the Calgary Flames at the outset of the season, and he is starting to really produce. There aren’t many on this team that can be counted upon every night for damage offensive, but who needs all of that when you have a goalie like G Tuukka Rask, who has a 1.57 GAA for the campaign.
There’s absolutely nothing to be surprised about here when you’re talking about the Penguins. They are scoring a tremendous amount of goals on a regular basis, and it all revolves around C Sidney Crosby. If he stays healthy, there is legitimately very little doubt that he is going to lead the league in scoring. Sid the Kid already has 20 points in 12 games, and there is a good chance that he is going to get to at least 120 points on the season. Three different players have at least five goals this year, and a whopping five players have at least seven assists. Pittsburgh had lost three straight games before Monday night when it took down the Carolina Hurricanes on the road. Now, it’s good to be back at home, where the team had won its first five games before dropping its last two outings. Keep an eye on G Marc-Andre Fleury in this game. Fleury is really only the decent goalie that Pittsburgh has to play with, as G Tomas Vokoun remains on IR. Fleury has had a tremendous season, posting a 1.79 GAA in his 10 starts.
This has been a wild series over the course of the last two seasons. Boston didn’t win a game between these two games in the regular season in those two years, but come the playoffs last year, the B’s swept the series to reach the Stanley Cup Finals. This is going to be a little bit of payback here, as Pittsburgh should get back on track at home against a very good Boston team.
