The NBA will provide a seven-game slate on Sunday, December 18, and here you can take a look at the best Nets vs. Pistons betting pick and odds.

Brooklyn is searching for the sixth consecutive win when they visit Detroit at Little Caesars Arena. The Nets are 7-point favorites on BookMaker Sportsbook, while the total is set at 231.5 points. These conference rivals have met four times last year and the Nets swept that series.

Nets edged the Raptors in Toronto

The Brooklyn Nets (18-12, 13-15-2 ATS) are playing their best basketball of the season and it all began with Steve Nash’s sacking. Brooklyn won nine of the previous ten games and is on a five-game winning run after defeating the Toronto Raptors 119-116 on the road. Kyrie Irving hit a buzzer-beating three-pointer to win it for the Nets, who did commit 14 turnovers opposite Toronto’s eight but were excellent from the floor (60.5%).

Kyrie Irving led Brooklyn with 32 points and game-high five assists. Kevin Durant had 28 points and four rebounds, Yuta Watanabe scored 17, while Nic Claxton posted a double-double of 15 points and game-high ten boards, along with a career-high six blocks.

PG Patty Mills was absent from the previous game due to a non-COVID illness, and he’s not going to play against the Pistons on Sunday.

Pistons lost to the Kings at home

The Detroit Pistons (8-23, 15-13-3 ATS) returned home from a road tilt against the Hornets, which they won in overtime, but couldn’t make it two in a row after losing 122-113 to the Sacramento Kings. Detroit played well in the opening half, but allowed 38 points and scored 23 in the third quarter, which made the difference in this game. Following this defeat, the Pistons are only a win ahead of the Hornets, who are at rock bottom of the Eastern Conference.

Bojan Bogdanovic led the Pistons with 22 points. Jalen Duren recorded a double-double of 15 points and game-high 14 rebounds, Saddiq Bey scored 14, while Marvin Bagley and Isaiah Stewart combined for 26 points and 13 boards.

PG Cade Cunningham will miss the rest of the season after having surgery to repair a tibial stress fracture. SG/SF Isaiah Livers is out with a shoulder injury and will not play on Sunday against Brooklyn.

Trends:

Brooklyn:

  • 4-1 ATS in the last five road games
  • 7-3-1 ATS in the last 11 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of less than .400

Detroit:

  • 1-4-1 ATS in the last six home games.
  • 0-5 ATS in their last five home games vs. a team with a winning road record

Brooklyn Nets vs. Detroit Pistons Pick

The Nets are playing excellent basketball at the moment, which can’t be said about the Pistons, who will play without their best player Cade Cunningham for the rest of the campaign. Brooklyn is better in both offense and defense. Although the difference on offense is not very big, it is when it comes to defense as the Nets allow 111.1 points per game, while Detroit allows 117.7 ppg, the second-worst D in the NBA. Irving, Durant, and co. have what it takes to beat the Pistons comfortably and I am backing the visitors to do so on Sunday, just like they did in each of the last six H2H duels.

Pick: Take the Nets at -6.5 (-110)

The Total

Even though the Pistons have a weak defense, the Nets’ offense is ranked 16th in the league as it averages 112.7 points per contest. That said, I don’t expect to see more than 115 points from Brooklyn here, and one of the biggest reasons I am going with Under is the Pistons’ offense that scores 111.0 ppg. Under is 5-1 in the Nets’ last six games playing on one day of rest, while the total has gone Under in four of Detroit’s previous six games.

Pick: Go Under 231.5 points (-110)
