The NCAAF action continues with Week 8 and intriguing conference games such as this Mountain West clash on Saturday, October 22, so make sure you read the best Broncos vs. Falcons betting pick and odds.

Boise State is looking to stay the only unbeaten team in the MW conference play, while Air Force is hoping to stay undefeated at home when they meet at Falcon Stadium. The Falcons are -3.5 favorites on BetDSI Sportsbook, while the total is set at 48 points. These Mountain West foes have met once in 2021, and the Falcons won that game 24-17 in Boise, ID.

Broncos won back-to-back games at home

The Boise State Broncos (4-2, 2-3-1 ATS) improved to a 3-0 record in conference play after beating the San Diego State Aztecs and Fresno State Bulldogs at home. In the most recent win over Fresno State, the Broncos scored a season-high 40 points and scored the final 20 points of the game after it was 20-20 midway through the third quarter. Boise State had almost as twice many yards as Fresno State (443-233) and 23 first downs opposite the visitors’ 15 in this 40-20 win.

Taylen Green completed ten of 18 passes for 127 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. Billy Bowens and George Holani were on the receiving end of those TD passes, which were their only catches in the game. Boise State was dominant on the ground as George Holani and Ashton Jeanty combined for 266 yards on 36 carries, while the latter scored a pair of rushing TDs. On defense, JL Skinner led the Broncos with seven tackles.

Falcons dismantled the Rebels on the road

The Air Force Falcons (5-2, 4-3 ATS) won their third in four games after destroying the UNLV Rebels 42-7 on the road for a first road victory of the season. It was the biggest margin win for the Falcons this year as they totaled 420 yards and limited the hosts to just 179, while Air Force was much better in first downs (26-9) and possession (43:16-16:44). Defensively, the visitors were on top with four forced turnovers and committed none on the other end.

As usual, Air Force didn’t use its pass offense. In fact, they had only three attempts and completed one pass. On the other hand, the Falcons scored six rushing touchdowns and collected 406 yards on 76 carries. Brad Roberts was monstrous with four TDs and 144 yards, while John Lee Eldridge III added 116 yards on just eight attempts with a score. The defense didn’t have a lot of work; Johnathan Youngblood led the team with six tackles.

Trends:

Boise State:

  • 2-5 ATS in the last seven games following an ATS win
  • 0-3-1 ATS in the last four road games

Air Force:

  • 7-3 ATS in the last ten games following an ATS win
  • 8-3 ATS in the last 11 games overall
  • 4-1 ATS in the last five home games

Boise State Broncos vs. Air Force Falcons Pick

Air Force is better in both offense and defense, not to mention their primary weapon – the run offense, in which they are the best in the country with 359.9 yards per game. Boise State has a decent team, but both of the Broncos’ losses this season came on the road, while the Falcons won all of their four games at home. Brad Roberts is unstoppable, and even though Boise State has a solid defense, the visitors will have problems handling Roberts and Air Force’s run offense on Saturday.

Pick: Take the Falcons at -2.5 (-135)

The Total

The Falcons will use their run offense in every drive, while the Broncos also prefer running over passing. Air Force has a top 15 defense in college football, so I don’t expect to see a lot of points from the visitors here. Both offenses are going to drain the game clock, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see lengthy (5+ minutes) drives on each end. Under is 10-3 in the Broncos’ last 13 games overall; Under is 7-1 in Boise State’s previous eight road games, while Under is 6-1 in the Falcons’ last seven vs. a team with a winning record.

Pick: Go Under 48.5 (-120)
