The Big 12 continues to dominate the national rankings with five teams in the latest AP poll. Kansas State leads the way at No.7 with West Virginia a close second at No.8. Texas falls just outside the top 10 at No.11 followed by TCU at No.15 and Oklahoma at No.17. Baylor was briefly ranked No.25 but was knocked out of the rankings after a wild loss to the Mountaineers last week. The following is a look at a couple of the top matchups this week in the Big 12 along with the opening spreads as provided by WagerWeb.

No.17 Oklahoma Sooners (-3.5) vs. Texas Tech Red Raiders

Oklahoma gets back to work this Saturday after a devastating 24-19 loss to Kansas State as a 15.5-point home favorite on Sept.22. The Sooners are 2-1 straight-up and 1-2 against the spread. The total has stayed UNDER in both of their games with a posted line.

Texas Tech is on the verge of breaking into the Top 25 with a 4-0 start both SU and ATS that includes a 24-13 win over Iowa State last Saturday as a one-point favorite on the road. The total has stayed UNDER in its last two games.

The series have been evenly split the last eight years with each team winning four times SU and ATS. The Red Raiders snapped a seven-game winning streak by the home team with a 41-38 victory last season as 29-point underdogs on the road. The total has stayed UNDER in five of the last eight meetings.

Iowa State Cyclones vs. No.15 TCU Horned Frogs (-11)

The Cyclones will look to bounce-back from this past Saturday’s loss to Texas Tech in their first game against TCU since 2005. Iowa State is now 3-1 SU overall and 2-2 ATS. Their defense is ranked 17th in the nation in points allowed; giving-up an average of 14 per game. The total has stayed UNDER in seven of their last nine games.

This game will be TCU’s first in the Big 12 as a member of the conference. It comes in at 4-0 SU (2-2 ATS) after squeezing by SMU last Saturday 24-16 as 13.5-point favorites on the road. The total stayed UNDER the 52-point line and has now stayed UNDER in all three games this season with a posted line.

When they last played each other in 2005, the Horned Frogs came away with a 27-24 victory as two-point favorites at home. Iowa State is 5-2 ATS in its last seven conference games and the total has stayed UNDER in six of those games. TCU is 24-8 ATS in its last 32 games following an ATS loss. The total has gone OVER in seven of its last 10 home game.

No.8 West Virginia Mountaineers vs. No.11 Texas Longhorns (-7)

This game is the highlight of Saturday’s schedule as the winner would have a strong leg up towards a run at the conference title. It is also West Virginia’s first road game in its new conference. The Mountaineers are 4-0 SU but only 1-3 ATS this year. They scored 70 points last Saturday in a three-point win over Baylor and put up 69 points in a win over Marshall on opening day.

Texas is off to a 4-0SU start and is 3-1 ATS after beating Oklahoma State last Saturday 41-36 as two-point favorites on the road. The total went OVER the 63.5-point line against the Cowboys but it has actually stayed UNDER in six of its last nine games.

This will be the first ever meeting between these two teams. West Virginia is 4-1 ATS in its last five road games and the total has gone OVER in five of its last seven games on the road. The Longhorns are 1-6 ATS in their last seven home games against a team with a winning record on the road. The total has stayed UNDER in 18 of their last 26 games at home.
