horned frogs sooners cfb picksThe Oklahoma Sooners did a real good job last time they faced off against the TCU Horned Frogs, but of course that was on their home field. Now they take a trip into the Metroplex, and TCU hopes to experience a little “home cooking” in the first Big 12 championship game, taking place at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, TX. Kickoff will be a 12:30 PM ET, and VietBet customers will have the opportunity to place wagers all throughout the game, as they take advantage of what is available through Live Betting Ultra.

Coming into this game, Oklahoma has a record of 11-1 straight-up and they are 7-5 against the football pointspread. Currently they are ranked second in the nation in both major polls. TCU is 10-2 straight-up and 7-5 against the number. They are the #10 team in the nation according to the Associated Press poll, and are 12th in the Coaches poll.

Both of these teams come off resounding victories; Oklahoma had what would appear to be a pretty tough assignment last week against West Virginia, but they had 646 yards of total offense in a 59-31 victory. Of course, that was accomplished as the Mountaineers with were without starting cornerback Will Grier. TCU took care of business against Baylor, winning by a 45-22 score and holding the Bears to just 79 total rushing yards.

In the Big 12 championship odds posted on this game by the folks at VietBet, Oklahoma is favored by a full touchdown:

Oklahoma Sooners -7
TCU Horned Frogs +7

Over 63.5 points -110
Under 63,5 points -110

It is tough to imagine Oklahoma being kept out of the mix at this point as they move toward a possible berth in the four-team college football playoff. They have conquered marquee foes, and on the road no less, including Ohio State, where they went to Columbus and shut down JT Barrett on the way to a 31-16 victory, not to mention Oklahoma State, which had a Heisman Trophy candidate in quarterbck Mason Rudolph.

Of course, the leading candidate for the Heisman is Baker Mayfield, who has been outstanding for the Sooners with his 4097 yards, 37 touchdowns and 10.8 yards per attempt. Oklahoma is tops in the nation is the metric of Passing Success Rate, and it certainly does not hurt Mayfield’s cause that his ground game, which has multiple weapons, is #2 in Rushing Success Rate. Such balance is not seen anywhere else in college football, and it goes without saying that the Sooners have the top Effiiciency rating among all offenses in the nation.

At the same time, VietBet patrons have to admit that while the defense has definitely had its moments, it is not the rock-ribbed unit head coach Lincoln Riley would ideally like to have. Oklahoma has given up 30 points or more five different times, and they have let some teams run on them, including West Virginia last week (250 yards), even in the process of that four-touchdown victory.

But when you can put together 600 or more yards of offense, like they have done seven times already, you need to be VERY permissive to lose out in the end. The Sooners have suffered one defeat, and it came at the hands of Iowa State, which also beat TCU, and even with 513 yards they fell victim to a hot quarterback in Kyle Kempt, who threw three TD passes in the last 17:07 to beat them.

Things sailed somewhat smoothly for OU when they played the Horned Frogs just three weeks back, as they stifled Kenny Hill and the passing game to a certain extent (13-28, 270 yards) in a 38-20 victory at Norman. All the damage was done in the first half, as they got out to a 38-14 lead at intermission, and they let the stop unit do the talking the rest of the way. What if they had not put the brakes on? We’re thinking that unless TCU can stop Rodney Anderson, who had 290 yards from scrimmage (151 rushing, 139 receiving), it won’t mater if the Sooners’ defense doesn’t have one of its best days. So we’re going to lay the points, in what is a mild recommendation.

Remember that at VietBet, you can get reduced juice, which makes your job easier, since you have better value with which to attack the college football odds, and then there is Live Betting Ultra, which offers thrills throughout the game…….And you can make deposits with the virtual currency of Bitcoin, which is not only fast and easy with their automated system, but never, EVER incurs a transaction fee.
