Baseball is back in full swing and so is The Bettor’s Box, the top MLB betting podcast in the industry. Host Adam Burke had a lot to talk about coming out of the first weekend of the second half and was able to also work in a handful of questions for the Monday Mailbag segment.
Before we get into today’s recap, we want to take a second to mention the show that we are very excited about coming up on Tuesday. We’ll be joined by Las Vegas-based freelance writer Marc Meltzer to talk about a lot of things going on in the city and also some things relative to the sports betting industry. It should be an excellent Tuesday Takeover show for anybody heading out that way soon or those that remember the glory days.
A look Beyond the Box Score opened this show, as it does all of our shows. We took a deep dive into the Yankees vs. Red Sox series, as the two teams played 43 innings over a three-day span. A lot of positives for both sides overshadowed some of the negatives, except for one big injury for the Yankees. The Braves swept the Diamondbacks and the Cubs also swept the Orioles, so we had two impressive performances to recap.
Looking Down the Lines, it was a bit of a slow Friday before we saw some significant line moves on Saturday and Sunday. Monitoring the market is so important for trying to grab the best prices and for getting a feel on what the professionals are playing. This segment also included a handful of leans for Monday night, with the analysis and the rationale behind those plays that should end up making the card.
Four questions in our Monday Mailbag segment covered a wide array of talking points, with some thoughts on umpires and weather, as well as thoughts on how to approach the first few days of the second half of the season. Keep sending us those questions on Twitter or in the article comments at BangTheBook.com.
Finally, Adam previewed the week ahead with a few key series, including some teams that are trying to get on track and those that are trying to avoid a tailspin. The Tigers and Royals are hoping to push the Indians, while the Indians are hoping to figure things out against the Giants. The Reds might be in a decent spot against the Diamondbacks and the Cubs are looking to leapfrog the Brewers and will look to get a step closer against one of baseball’s hotter teams.
Join us for that Tuesday Takeover show. You won’t be disappointed.
