For at least one more day on BangTheBook Radio, the focus is solely on Major League Baseball. We’re returning to our regular daily format on Monday, but we had one more edition of The Bettor’s Box to get to on Thursday. Host Adam Burke shared a lot of great baseball betting insight and analysis with our listeners to get them ready for the weekend and sort out everything that happened with the MLB Trade Deadline.
That was the starting point for today’s show. There were a couple of really significant starting pitcher trades and then a bunch of supplemental trades for bullpen arms, depth players, and the like. Adam gave his thoughts on the Sonny Gray deal between the Yankees and the Athletics and what it means for both teams now and in the future. He also touched on the Dodgers’ acquisition of Yu Darvish. Some other deals and situations piqued his interest and he covered those as well.
The Beyond the Box Score segment for this week featured the Detroit Tigers snagging two of three from the New York Yankees in what was a weird series on a lot of levels. He also talked about the Baltimore Orioles sweeping the Kansas City Royals and the Miami Marlins grabbing two of three from the Washington Nationals after almost getting no-hit on Monday.
Following the betting market is something that we do on every show and Adam put his focus on that by looking at some of the notable line moves from Tuesday and Wednesday. Some trends have emerged out there in the betting market and we always make sure to bring those to our listeners’ attention so they can hit the overnights or know where lines are moving. Adam also talked about Thursday’s moves and gave out his free pick from today’s card.
The weekend ahead has some interesting series, including the Yankees vs. Indians, Nationals vs. Cubs, Mariners vs. Royals, and the Dodgers vs. the Mets. Adam talked about some betting angles, including a play for Sunday and possibly a situational element to look at for Monday’s card as well.
Join us on Monday for the return of BangTheBook Radio’s regular format, as we talk NFL with Joe Everett of NFL Draft Bible and also chat college football and NFL with Kyle Hunter of SmarterSportsPicks.com.
