Betting Against the Public NFL Week 10

Last Updated: 2017-11-10

The National Football League is usually a magnet for sports betting fans. This year although the television ratings have been down the sports betting handle on this sport is actually increasing as the NFL continues to be one of the most popular sports. The massive amount of money that is coming in on this sport continues to grow and as long as it continues to grow there will always be a reason to try and find angles to winning when betting on the NFL. This is true for every week in the NFL and especially week 10.

Week 10 has a big schedule in the NFL as bye weeks start to dwindle so there is plenty of opportunity to go against the public. When you bet against the public it often means that you have to take a bad team or you have to bet on underdogs. In the NFL this has not always been a good thing in recent weeks. Favorites have been cashing in at an incredible rate up to this point.

Chalking up Another week to the Public

The favorites once again crushed the books. It ended with a big win by the Detroit Lions who were two point favorites against the Green bay Packers on Monday night football. After that win the favorites continued to cruise over the last three weeks. Over that time span the favorites are 22-10-4 against the number which is right around a 70 percent win clip. This could be a tough time for betting against the public, but there is time for a correction in the market and that could be this week.

Ignoring the Obvious

The Giants are having an ugly season. They just got blown at home in a game they gave up on. They are 0-6 in the NFC and they have not won a divisional game. They are 3-5 against the spread (ATS) and there are reports that the team has turned on head coach Ben McAdoo. They are now flying cross country to take on the San Francisco 49ers. Despite all of those problems the public is still racing to the window to back Big Blue as road favorites against the winless 49ers. They are ignoring the obvious and have no problem backing a team that looks like they have already packed it in for the season. This makes the 49ers a team to watch this weekend if you like to bet against the public in week 10 of the NFL.

Fading the Top Pick is the Way to Go

Last week we bit on the most popular play of the week which just so happened to be taking the New York Giants who never showed up in an embarrassing loss to the LA Rams. That makes the second week in a row that the most popular pick of the week by the public has won. However on the year fading the most popular pick has been very profitable. That is why we once again will suggest a play based on the NFL betting consensus. The most popular play this week is the New England Patriots on Sunday night football as (-7.5) point favorites against the Denver Broncos. This is due to how the Broncos played a week ago against Philadelphia, the fact that the Patriots are off a bye week and that they are one of the most popular teams to bet on in the league. The difference this time is around is that the Broncos are at home and will not give up. Tom Brady has also struggled in the Mile High City which makes this an inflate line and will give the underdog bettors value when betting on the ugly underdog. If you do not like to bet on the Broncos because they have had such an ugly season it is advised to stay away from the Patriots in this game.
