The 2023-24 NFL season is already ⅓ of the way complete, and there has already been plenty of drama through the first six weeks of the season. This league is once again full of parity, and it has made the action on the field tremendous up to this point.

While offensive players tend to get most of the attention when it comes to the NFL Draft every year, this rookie class has some terrific defenders. Devon Witherspoon is the second player to consider when betting on this market, as the former University of Illinois product has odds set at +200. Witherspoon has provided immediate impact for the Seattle Seahawks, and he is a huge playmaker.
There is clearly still some time for other rookie defensive players to make a run at winning this award, but those are the two favorites at this time. If you were betting on the best defensive rookie this season, then taking Witherspoon at +200 is the best wager to make.

A Handful of Offensive Players in the Mix
As mentioned above, it’s pretty easy for rookie offensive players to get some attention right away, and that has been the case already this year. You always want to start at the quarterback position when trying to pick the best rookie performer, but there is only one that has a shot to win the award this year.
That player would be C.J. Stroud, and the Houston Texans quarterback is the clear favorite to win this award at -200. Stroud actually has the Texans in a position to make the playoffs this year, and he made it through five games before he even threw his first interception.
Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua is next on the list at +425, and he has been a terrific story this season. The Rams are a team that loves to throw the football, and Nacua has been a big part of that offense.
There is really only one other player that might have a chance to win this award, and that would be Bijan Robinson. The former Texas Longhorns star was expected to be a superstar running back in the NFL, but he has found life difficult for much of the year.
Betting on Robinson at +600 is going to give you a ton of value when betting on this market, but he’s still a long shot at this time. As long as Stroud is able stay healthy, then he is going to be the big winner of this award.
