Basketball Odds: New York Knicks @ Chicago Bulls Pick
- Updated: March 12, 2012
The beasts of the East, the Chicago Bulls are going to be in search of their 35th win of the season on Monday night in the Windy City when they try to beat the NBA odds against the New York Knicks.
The clock is really starting to tick on the Knicks right now, and we are wondering whether this team is going to be able to figure out how to ever mesh this season. Perhaps this team is better with Jeremy Lin staying and Amare Stoudemire and Carmelo Anthony going? The team was on a roll before Melo came back, but now all of a sudden, a bad loss at Madison Square Garden against the Philadelphia 76ers which saw the hometown crowd voicing its displeasure marked a fifth straight loss from both an SU and an ATS standpoint. New York is really in danger of missing the playoffs, and with a team like this one that has three legitimate stars that could average well over 20 points per game if they are given the chance and are healthy, that shouldn’t nearly be the case, certainly in the Eastern Conference. Of course, Lin is looked at as the savior of this team, but he is still turning the ball over a ton, and a lot of those turnovers are turning into fast break points the other way. That’s part of the reason why New York has allowed at least 115 in three of its last five and at least 102 in six of its last seven.
The Bulls are coming off of a game against the Utah Jazz in which their starters really went off. Joakim Noah, Luol Deng, Richard Hamilton, and CJ Watson were all out of the lineup, yet Derrick Rose scored 24 and had 13 assists, while Carlos Boozer was good for 27, and Kyle Korver came up with 26 points, seven rebounds, and six assists. It seems as though all season long, the story for this Chicago team has been the rotation of players that continue to step up. It never seems to matter who is out of the lineup. The team is constantly just putting players out there that are going to be huge when they are called upon, and that is why this is the best team in the Eastern Conference at the moment and is a huge threat to win the NBA title this year. We don’t expect to see either Deng or Hamilton back in the fold on Monday, but Noah, who merely was under the weather, should be able to be back to take on the Knicks here at the United Center.
The Final Word: The Bulls are just unstoppable right now, and there is no way that we are going to go against them and their 26-17 ATS mark. New York is poison right now, and there is a reason that this team is seven games under .500 from an ATS standpoint.
