BangTheBook’s Top 5 College Basketball Teams Week 2/4/13

Top 5 Teams

Every week at Bang the we will break down the teams we believe are at the top of the college basketball world. Then we will break down the rankings and rate the teams based on recent performance and take a look at what lies ahead as March Madness approaches.

1) Indiana Hoosiers

The Hoosiers have been at the top of the college basketball world all season, and are arguably the best team in college basketball. Cody Zeller is one of the best players in college hoops today and he showed it again last week as he led the Hoosiers in a demolition of the then No. 1 Michigan Wolverines. Zeller posted a double-double in the win and sent notice to the rest of the college basketball world that the Hooisers will be a contender for the National Championship.

2) Michigan Wolverines

Despite the loss to Indiana, the Wolverines are also a top team in the country. Beating Indiana at home is no easy feat so the loss should not hurt this team too much. The true test will be how they rebound this week as they have some tough games against Ohio State, Wisconsin and Michigan State.

3) Florida Gators

The Florida Gators are a good team but seem to be flying under the radar. Loaded with sharpshooters to include Erik Murphy, the Gators are winning and they are winning big. The Gators have won the last 10 games by double digits and are crushing the competition. With a seemingly easy trek the rest of the way the Gators could get to the top spot by March.

4) Kansas Jayhawks

The recent home loss to Oklahoma State is unforgivable and the big reason for the drop. The Jayhakws are a quality team but will need to rebound on the road to move up in the rankings.

5) Duke Blue Devils

Since the humiliating loss to the Hurricanes, the Blue Devils are playing much better basketball. An upcoming game against North Carolina State can boost this team up the charts once again.
