It was a grab bag type of episode on BangTheBook Radio to wrap up this week of content. Host Adam Burke was joined by Alex Nicolas to chat Conference USA college basketball and Philip Rossman-Reich to recap the NBA Trade Deadline and look ahead to the rest of the season. In between, he talked some Major League Baseball.
With our opening guest on a bit of a time crunch, host Adam Burke had an abbreviated introduction so we could get down to business with the first of today’s two guests.
Alex Nicolas is a contributor to the Miner Rush, the SB Nation home of the UTEP Miners, who are a member of Conference USA. We’ve talked a lot about conference specialization recently, so what better time to dig into Conference USA? The Thursday/Saturday format of the conference means that we have some interesting games for Saturday and we also talked with Alex about the conference as a whole.
In between guests, Adam ran through his usual introduction stuff about the content available at our wonderful website and about all of the resources that you can use to your advantage. He also sent out a call for Monday Mailbag questions with the return of that segment coming up just after the weekend. We’ve gotten a couple of questions thus far, but we’re looking for more, so reach out to the Twitter handles at the bottom of today’s recap.
Adam also spoke about the early MLB season win totals that we’ve seen out there in the marketplace. Some numbers have moved around already, so Adam touched on those and talked about his strategies.
Philip Rossman-Reich from Orlando Magic Daily joined today’s show to help us sort through everything that happened with yesterday’s Trade Deadline. The Cavs seem to be back atop the Eastern Conference odds with the moves that they’ve made and we got Philip’s thoughts on if that should be the case or not. The guys also recapped the other transactions that were made and talked about how to approach those teams going forward.
Join us on Monday for our Monday Mailbag segment and for a chat with Kyle Hunter of HunterSportsPicks.com for our weekly Handicapping the Hardwood segment.
